Joseph Magliato, 87, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Montgomery, New
York, on his birthday. Born on July 29, 1938, in Newburgh, New York, Joseph
lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, a love of adventure,
and an unwavering commitment to living life on his own terms.
Joseph was
a devoted husband to his beloved wife Betteann Magliato, with whom he shared
countless adventures and unforgettable memories. Together they traveled far and
wide—Las Vegas, Monte Carlo, Saratoga, Montreal, Atlantic City, Florida, and the
Jersey Shore—always embracing the thrill of new experiences. Their life together
was rich with joy and laughter, and they lived it without regrets. He was a
loving father to his daughters Kim Miyoshi (fiance Jim) and Jennie Knapp
(husband Tom), and a proud grandfather to Gabriella Miyoshi; Tom Knapp (Angela);
Nicole Simpson (JT); and Steven Knapp (Trish). His legacy continues through his
great-grandchildren Charlotte, Ashton, and Travis. He was predeceased by his
cherished great-granddaughter Ella Simpson. Joseph is also survived by his
sister Frances and niece Louene Ruggiero (Mickey).
Family meant everything to Joseph. Whether offering help when it was needed
or simply sharing time with loved ones, he made sure those close to him felt
supported and valued. His long conversations with Chuck Levinson—discussing
stocks and horse racing—were treasured moments that reflected both his sharp
mind and deep bonds; Joseph considered Chuck part of the family.
Joseph
had a zest for life that was unmistakable. He enjoyed playing poker, watching
horse racing, visiting casinos, watching classic movies and serials and spending
time at the beach. His favorite song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra—a fitting
anthem for a man who truly lived life according to his own rules with no
regrets.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Jennie Magliato as
well as his beloved wife Betteann Magliato. Joseph Magliato's memory will live
on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort and
inspiration to those he leaves behind. A Visitation will be held on August 4,
2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh,
NY. Graveside Service to follow at Calvary Cemetery New Windsor, NY
