Margaret Demskie Mesnick - Class of 1959

    Margaret E. Mesnick, a former resident of Broadalbin and Beacon and currently of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. She was 84 years old.

Margaret was born on August 9, 1940 in Newburgh, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Toth Demskie. She was a 1959 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She married the love of her life, John Mesnick, who predeceased her on December 31, 1990.

Peggy was an avid quilter who found joy in sewing and crafts, pouring her creativity into every stitch. Her love of sunflowers reflected her bright spirit, and she brought warmth and laughter to every room. Peggy cherished conversation and had a sparkly sense of humor that lifted the hearts of those around her.

She is survived by her daughters, Camille Cappello-Chapman of Wappingers and Pamela MacDonald of Fishkill; her son-in-law, James Ciccarelli, Sr.; her grandchildren, John Baker, Jr., Kenneth Chapman, Deona Chapman, James Ciccarelli, Jr., Lauren Ciccarelli, Scott MacDonald; her great grandchildren, Leslie Hinds, III, Lillie Hinds and James Ciccarelli, III; her sister, Patricia Demskie of Hyde Park; her brother, Lawrence Demskie, Jr. of Marlboro; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandy Ciccarelli and her son-in-law, Dean G. Chapman.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
