Edward Lastowski, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, NY, passed away on September 6th at home, surrounded by his children. He was 99 years old and lived a life of selfless love and service to others.

The son of the late Alex and Antoinette Stoba Lastowski, Ed was born on October 11, 1924 in Newburgh, NY€™s €œFourth Ward€ on North Water Street.

He was a 1943 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and an alumnus of Rochester Institute of Technology School of Printing, Class of 1949.

Ed proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as an Aviation Metalsmith Third Class for 34 months. He retired from the former Newburgh Evening News and the USMA Printing Plant at West Point as a typesetter. In his retirement years, he enjoyed woodworking in his garage, tending his garden, and being a Poppy to his granddaughters. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church; a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd & 4th degrees, and a member of the Holy Name Society and Fatima Retreat Group.

Ed is survived by his loving family: daughter, Toni Anne; son, Edward and his wife, Sue; beloved granddaughters, Christina Teator (Joe) and Alexa Rosales (Rafael); cherished great grandsons, Lucas and Benjamin Teator; treasured cousin, Caroline Stoba Quilty of Meriden, CT, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Antoinette (Toni) Dorazio; three brothers: Walter and Napoleon Lastowski, and John Kulik, and four sisters: Genevieve Fayo, Amelia Kulik, Bridget Maslowski and Jadwiga Lastowski.

Our family would like to thank Dad's caregivers, his loving niece, Cookie, and Michelle--for their devoted concern for our father. We would also like to recognize the superb support received by Hospice of Orange & Sullivan; specifically, Amanda, Dianna and Sandy, who took care of our Dad with kindness and respect. We also thank the Home Care Team of the VA Hospital at Castle Point for their wonderful, respectful support.
