Percy Marion Ennist Jr. "Chick" - Class of 1961

Percy Marion Ennist Jr.
"Chick" a resident of Walker Valley, New York, formerly of Newburgh, New York, and known to many as
" Chick" passed away at his home on Monday, November 17, 2025. He was 82. The son of the late Percy M. Ennist Sr. and Bernice Travis Ennist, he was born on March 4, 1943 in Newburgh, NY.
Percy graduated in 1961 from Newburgh Free Academy, enlisted in the Army and proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he met his beloved wife Patricia Ann Hirsch of Evansville, Indiana. Percy retired from Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corp in 2003 as a lineman after almost 40 years of service. He was a member of Local 320, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and served as the treasurer for many years, and was a Court Officer for the Town of Newburgh from 2005-2019.
Percy was a Life Member of Dan Leghorn Engine Co #1 for 64 years and served as a Past Chief and Past President. He a life member of Walker Valley Sportsman Association, Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and the recipient of the Andrew Carnegie Heroism Award for saving his neighbor in a fire.
Percy was well known as a lively and fun spirited person; his humor was felt by all. He was an avid Outdoors man especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He served his community well.
On April 25, 1964, he married Patricia Ann; he leaves behind his wife and children, Shea Richard, Shannon and Brian Mucci, Lance Ennist and Scott Ennist; grandchildren Richard Nosek, Jr., Erin Nosek, Shannon Richard, Patricia Ennist, Eli Ennist and Finn Ennist; step-granddaughter Victoria Fleischer; step-great grandchildren Matthew and Coleson Fleischer, Brother In-Law and Sister In-law Michael and Kathryn Hirsch. He was predeceased by his sister Christina Ennist.
Visitation will be held on Thursday November 20, 2025 from 1-3pm & 6-8pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Firematic services will take place at 7:45pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be offered on Friday November 21, 2025 at 10am at the funeral home Burial with Military honors will follow at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen NY. In remembrance of Percy, you can make a donation to the place of your choice.
