Lillian C. Iatomase Babcock - Class of 1933

  Lillian C. Iatomase Babcock - Our beloved Lillian Babcock, born October 26, 1915, age 105, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2021. A long time resident of Newburgh, New York, Lantana, Florida, and North Richland Hills, Texas, she was the daughter of Carmella and Philip Iatomase, who preceded her in death, as did her husband John T. Babcock, her daughter-in-law Barbara K. Babcock and her brothers John, Alfred and Nicholas Iatomase.
She is survived by her son Philip J. Babcock and his partner Helen Hill. Lillian is also survived by nieces Shirley Early, Mary Fakelmann and her husband Robert, and her nephews Philip Iatomase and his wife JoAnn, William Babcock and his wife Ann, Edward Babcock and his wife Gertrude, John Babcock and his wife Angie, Donald Babcock and his wife Phyllis, James Sklenar and his wife Ann, as well as many beloved cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews and other extended family members and many dear friends.
Lillian graduated high school in Newburgh and went on to operate the family's business The Farmer's Live Poultry Market along with her brothers John, Alfred and Nicholas. She later worked for Clark's Drug Store on Broadway. She also owned and operated, with her husband John and brother Nicholas, San Martino's Liquor Store in Wappinger's Falls, New York. On retirement, she and her husband, and brothers Alfred and Nicholas moved to Lantana, Florida, where Lillian volunteered at the local American Cancer Society's thrift store. When that store closed, she volunteered at the thrift store in West Palm Beach, operated by The Lord's Place, in supporting families in crisis.
After the death of her husband and brothers, Lillian moved to North Richland Hills, Texas to reside with her son Philip, where she remained until her death.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brooks Funeral Home. There will be a short service at the funeral home Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 9 a.m., followed by a requiem mass at St. Patrick's Church on Grand Street at 10:00 a.m., followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, New York. - October 26, 1915 - July 18, 2021
In lieu of flowers. donations may be made in Lillian's name to The Lord's Place.
