Erika Burks - Class of 2003 (camera shy)

Erika Latrice Burks of Newburgh, NY, transitioned into eternal rest in the care of her Father's arms, on Saturday, January 24th, 2026. She was born on February 22, 1985 in Newburgh, NY. She was the beloved daughter of Ms. Veronica Burks-McBride of Newburgh and Mr. Tyrone Bronson (Michelle) of Fayetteville, N.C.
Erika, affectionately called, Dunkie Doo, Yooh, Thugalatrice, football, and Ray, Ray, by some of her cousins and friends. She grew up in the city of Newburgh where she attended the NECSD.
Erika was employed with West Point USMA for 18 years, and also worked for four years at the National Guard Base. Erika enjoyed cooking, listening to music and singing. Erika, as a young child and as a Young adult, sang in the children's choir and the Young Adult Mass Choir, a few of her favorite songs "I CAN'T FORGET, "MORE ABUNDANTLY", I JUST CAN'T GIVE UP NOW". Erika's beloved children was her utmost Joy.
Erika leaves to cherish her loving memories, 3 sons, Elijah Moody, Jayden Southwell, and Semaj Armstrong all of Newburgh, NY. One daughter, Trinity Moody, of Newburgh. 2 brothers, Danny McBride, of Newburgh N. Y, and Darius McBride of Richmond VA. Her sisters: Tilesia, Raven, Aianna of North Carolina, brothers: David and Tyrone of Fayetteville, NC. Her maternal grandmother, Mother Sarah Pinesett, who spoiled Erika and called her Roooooh. A very loving and special friend Mr. James Armstrong of Newburgh. She leaves behind a host of adoring cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and loved ones.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday February 10th, 2026, from 10AM to 11AM at The Cathedral at The House of Refuge 131 Broadway, Newburgh. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11AM. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
