Ramona Lewis - Class of 1972

Ramona Elizabeth Lewis, 71, of Newburgh, New York passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1954, in Newburgh, New York, where she began a life defined by love, strength, and generosity.
Ramona was a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her life. She was employed by Bank of New York, Blue Cross Blue Shield, RIM Plumbing and Heating, and the United States Military Academy at West Point. She took pride in her work and carried herself with dignity and determination in every role she held. Above all, Ramona's greatest joy was her family.
She was a loving and devoted mother to her son, Shane Ajani Lewis and his fiancee, Tawana Tee Hamilton, and her daughter, Stasia Takara Smith. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Xavier Emmanuel Blackman-Lewis, Elijah Blackman-Lewis, Jada Symon Ellen Kelly, Jahkari Tremond Lewis, and Ah'jani Olivia Lewis, and a beloved great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. Ramona had a deep love for spending time with her family, especially during vacations together, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She was an excellent cook whose meals brought comfort and happiness to those around her. Known as a phenomenal woman, Ramona was generous, kind, and loving—not only to her family but also to her many friends.
Her warmth, strength, and selflessness touched countless lives. She was preceded in death by her father, Riley Junior Lewis; her mother, Blanche Estelle Anderson; and her brother, Riley Thomas Lewis, all of Newburgh, New York. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her great-grandchildren; her sister, Regina Dee Tisdale; her nieces, Janelle C. Harris and Shanina Dee Harris her brother, Robert Anthony Lewis; and a host of extended family members and dear friends. Ramona Elizabeth Lewis will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and the lasting impact she made on everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
