Richard S. Makarewicz, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2026 at his home. He was 66 years old.

The son of the late Stanley Richard Makarewicz and Dorothea Janet (Thompson) Makarewicz, Richard was born on April 30, 1960 in Cornwall, NY.

Richard was a retired Laborer for the Town of Newburgh Highway Department in Newburgh, NY.

Special thanks to his wonderful neighbors who always kept a watchful eye on him, especially Jackie Mann. He will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother: William G. Makarewicz and his beloved fur babies Jack and Freckles. He is survived by an aunt, a niece and several cousins.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY. Graveside Service will take place at St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor, NY at a later date.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Hudson Valley SPCA in New Windsor, NY.
