Michael Hurd - Class of 1965

 Michael S. Hurd of Bloomingburg, NY passed away quietly at his home on June 9th, 2026. He was 79 years old. Born to the late Helen Hurd on April 20th 1947 in Reno Nevada, Michael grew up in Newburgh, NY. He was active in the American Red Cross and the Teamsters Union before he turned to teaching math in the Middletown Public Schools, retiring in 2012.
He was married to Lesley A. McDevitt, his wife of 52 years; they bred, raced and sold Thoroughbred horses together. Mike also loved to travel and they enjoyed many trips. Always close to his family, many wonderful hours were spent with them at picnics and parties. He will be dearly missed by all.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Lesley Ann Hurd at home; son Scott Allen Hurd at home; daughter, Jennifer Templeton (Jim) Wells, Maine; brother Jeff Lynn (Donna) Atlanta, Georgia ; grandchildren: Devin Sibley (Mike Hodges); Meghan Norton (Andrew); Lucas Templeton, Wells Maine; great-daughter Eden Rose Hodges; foster son, Owen Wells (Claudette) Galeta, CA. and many well-loved cousins.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Hurd Sibley.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 15 2026 from 5 to 7 PM at Gridley-Horan Funeral Home Walden, NY.
A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 16 2026 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Bloomingburg, NY 12721
Burial of ashes will follow at the Hurd plot in Hillside Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
