Paul L. Ponessi, 75, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.

Mr. Ponessi passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Born on January 27, 1949 in Newburgh, NY, he was a son of the late James and Catherine Leghorn Ponessi. Paul was the loving husband of Dorina Blake Ponessi.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Paul served during Vietnam. Following his service, he returned to Newburgh where he met his wife, Dorina. The two were married on May 19, 1973. Paul retired from Woodberry, NY Police Department following numerous years of dedicated service. He then began working as a carwash electrician and home remodeler. He began renovating their home in Longs in 1995 and they moved from New York in 1996.

Paul was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also served as an usher and as well as a Eucharistic Minister.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 51 years, Dorina, he is survived by his sons, Paul L. Ponessi, Jr., Christopher Ponessi (wife, Jennifer); three grandchildren, Andrew Michael, Mia, and Julia Ponessi; sisters, Judy Steinmetz, Jackie McKinley, and Kathy Bauer. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Ponessi.
