John Kevin Mannion - Class of 1965

     John "Kevin"� Mannion entered into rest on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 78. Born on September 14, 1947 to Audrey and John Mannion in Albany, New York, he was also the younger brother of Michael Mannion.

Kevin graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1965, Orange County Community College in 1967 with a Liberal Arts Degree, SUNY Stony Brook in 1969 with a Bachelors in Psychology, and Cincinnati Technical School (now known as Cincinnati State) in the Physician's Assistant Primary Care Program in 1978. This program was an early pioneering program for Physician's Assistants in the United States. He also sat for the National Board Medical Examination which he passed in 1978. He also earned a Bachelors of Arts from Metropolitan State College in 1980.

Kevin proudly and honorably served his country in both the US Army and Air National Guard. Kevin was drafted by the US Army in 1969, with his birthday, September 14th, being the first draft lottery number chosen. He attended Basic Training at Fort Dix in 1970. Serving 6 years in the Army that included time in Vietnam, he trained as both a Medical Corpsmen and Psychiatric Specialist. As a Psychiatric Specialist, he was a member of the mental health team where he facilitated individual and group therapy sessions and worked with heroin addicts. He was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Kevin spent most of his adult life in Denver, Colorado with his last 15 years in Baltimore. Kevin enjoyed outdoor adventures such as hiking, camping, and fishing with a real fondness for trout fishing. He enjoyed music, history, politics, culture, and watching Antiques Roadshow. His passport was filled with stamps; India, Korea, Nepal, Thailand, Pakistan and Afghanistan, just to name a few. Kevin leaned introverted but if he was your friend, you had indeed found a good one. He was funny, smart and kind. He was always prepared for the unexpected and was always ready with some type of advice, and oftentimes, the advice was good. He enjoyed spending time with good friends, enjoying good food and having something sweet readily available.

Kevin leaves behind two loving nieces; Michelle (Werner) Dominguez and Tara (Christopher) Batson and three great nieces; Emily Taggart and Sydney and Karly Batson. He is predeceased by his partner Mary Harris, his parents John and Audrey and his brother, Michael.
