From: [X]Fran Olson Gustafson 1965 | Date: 2026-10-08 15:50:17

Charlotte M. Henderson Palumbo entered into rest peacefully, with her girls by her side on June 13, 2026. She was 86 years old. Daughter of Marie and James Henderson, she is survived by her daughters and her three grandchildren, with whom she loved more than words could ever say. Tracy Palumbo-Cortez (Carlos) son Jordan. Jennifer Deleonard (Lee) daughters Talia and Mabel, Honorary Daughter Kim Kenny Rosenblum. The Melville family (Nieces and Nephews) and their respective families, all with whom she loved very much. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Palumbo, sister Carol Jean and her beloved brother David Henderson.

Charlotte grew up in Newburgh, NY and was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She enjoyed planning her class reunions and reuniting with her classmates and friends, remembering good times. She loved her city. She was introduced to her love, Richard by her friend Dorty and this became the beginning of a 41 year marriage. Charlotte and Richard owned and operated Richard's Dairy Shed in Montgomery together. They were a good team and loved each other deeply. Through the laughter and tears of life, together they created something beautiful. She fondly referred to the "Richard's employees as her "kids" and made millions of wonderful memories and lasting impressions on all. She served her community with great pride and joy through the business, volunteering for school events and with her church. She was "one in a million", she had a heart of gold and was full of Love. We will miss her "Charlotteisms", her sayings for just about any situation, haha. There was no shortage of laughter when she was around. Her smile lit up the room. She always knew just the right thing to say when you asked her for advice. She would listen and just say exactly what you needed to hear (whether you liked it or not), she made you think and you knew everything would be "OK". She made the absolute BEST Sandwiches Ever!! Don't call her while Jeopardy was on, she wasn't going to answer. She was the strongest woman we know in so many ways. She was Superwoman. She touched many lives with her warmth, compassion and genuine care for their well being. She was simply the "BEST". Her physical presence is deeply missed, in our hearts she will always remain. We love you Mom, Grandma, Auntie!!

A celebration of Life is being held on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Thomas Bull Memorial Park Boathouse from 1:30-3:30. Please join us to celebrate a life well lived.

Donations can be made in Charlotte's memory to Save the Ferry, The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry. (thefullerton.org)
