Douglas Edic - Class of 1970

From: [X]Fran Olson Gustafson 1965 | Date: 2026-10-31 00:53:59

Douglas L. Edic, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest on October 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A resident of Highland, he was 75 years old.

Born on April 9, 1951, in Newburgh, New York, Douglas was the son of the late Gerald Edic and Loretta Smith. He grew up alongside his sister, Carol, and brother, Bob, both of whom preceded him in passing. He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, his siblings, his grandson, Kyle Stevens, son of Jennifer Edic, and his nephew, Dylan Edic.

Douglas graduated from high school and went on to work in maintenance at Newburgh Free Academy. In the late 1970s, Douglas met the love of his life, Rosario Albertini. They married in Newburgh and shared 47 loving years together, building a life centered on family, companionship, and treasured memories.

Douglas is survived by his devoted wife, Rosario Edic; his daughter, Stephanie Edic; his son-in-law, David Piwowarski Jr.; his daughter from a previous marriage, Jennifer Edic; and his great-grandchildren, Layla, Kylie, and Aubrey. He is also survived by his niece, nephew, and extended family.

Affectionately known as Doug, he had a lifelong love of music, especially rock which provided the soundtrack to many of his days. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, swimming in the ocean, going for walks, reading poetry, and cheering on the New York Yankees. Sharing good food with family was his all-time pleasure, whether gathered around the table at home or enjoying a meal together at a restaurant.

Above all, Doug treasured time with those he loved and found his greatest happiness in the company of his family.

Doug will be remembered for his sense of humor, his easygoing spirit, and his relaxed, go-with-the-flow approach to life. His personality brought joy to those around him, and his family knew the depth of his love and the pride he took in them.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his laughter, love, and the memories he leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Forever loved. Always remembered.

Family and friends will gather on November 12, 2026 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, 304 Walsh Avenue, New Windsor.
