Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 01/Oct/2015 Message: Samuel Dabrusin died suddenly on July 24, 2004 in Newburgh. He was a Newburgh resident for 69 years. He was the son of the late Hyman and Lena Bass Dabrusin. He was predeceased by his wife Estelle. Mr. Dabrusin was the official scorer for N.F.A. Basketball teams for 60 years, a track official and a volunteer for Meal on Wheels. He was a member of Young in Heart, Jewish Community Center and a member of the United Commercial Travelers. Mr. Dabrusin was a substitute teacher in the Newburgh School District for 17 years and was in the Amphion Glee Club for many years. In addition to AARP, Mr. Dabrusin was a service station operator on Broadway & 9W in Newburgh for many years. He is survived by his two sons: Ross of Fort Mac Murray, Canada and Richard of Montreal, Canada; grandchildren: Julie Aviva, Sam and Lena and his great granddaughter Zoe; two sisters: Ida Martin Arons of Deerfield Beach, FL and Rose "Hezzy" Levinson of Irvine, CA and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Dabrusin is also survived by his steadfast companion and friend Selma Cohn A memorial visitation will be held today, July 27, 2004 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc. 318 North Montgomery St., Newburgh.
