Thomas W. McDermott, of Woodstock, Georgia formerly of Newburgh passed away, on November 7th at his daughter's home following an extended illness. He was 92. Thomas was born September 12, 1925 in Newburgh, New York to the late Thomas J. and Clara M. Fluss McDermott. Mr. McDermott was employed with the Crowley Food Company for 37 years as a salesman. A veteran of WW II he proudly served his country as a United States Marine in the Pacific Theater of operations. He was instrumental in the renovation and beatification of Our Lady of the Lake Chapel. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Breitenbach McDermott; two sons in law; Richard Douglass and Brian Brennan, and two grandsons, Seth McDermott and Colin Brennan. Survivors include four daughters; Mary Ann Marcantonio (Kim) of Middletown, MD, Patricia Douglass of Orlando, Florida, Barbara Brennan, and Jane Csubak (John) both of Woodstock, Georgia; three sons; Thomas McDermott, Jr. (Lynn) of Melbourne, Florida, Robert McDermott (Joanne) of the Town of Newburgh, and John McDermott (Julie) of Colorado; one sister, Eva McDowell; one brother, John Maney; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will take place Sunday, November 12th from 3 to 6 p.m. at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd., (Route 32) Town of Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered, 11 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Our Lady of The Lake Chapel, Rte. 52 (Orange Lake), Town of Newburgh. Burial to follow at Mt. Saint Francis Cemetery in New Windsor with military honors. Replies to this post
