Submitted by Darren Fogarty 83 dfogarty@floridaufsd.org Maura died of cardiac arrest due to a birth condition, Marfons Syndrome. She loved music and being part of the NFA flag squad. She also played clarinet in the band. She was a loving girl that never had the chance to experience life. She loved roller skating, and we had just gotten her her own pair of boot skates just before she died. She was so happy. I have a terrific picture of her in them with a big smile to go with her beautiful red hair. As a junior at NFA she had just begun to blossom and make new friends. It as been tough on the family losing her so young. She was my only sister, and I miss the things we might have shared. I hope those of you who look at this site think back and remember her from time to time
Submitted by ROBIN GILLEO OSTER 1980 ROBINMOSTER@YAHOO.COM I REMEMBER MAURA FONDLY AND OFTEN. WE MET IN CHORUS AND BECAME FRIENDS RIGHT AWAY. WE USED TO GO ROLLER SKATING IN TOWN IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY WEEKEND. I SMILE WHEN I HEAR ONE OF THE SONGS WE SKATED TO LIKE KOOL AND THE GANG'S "CELEBRATE". ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE HER PASSING, MAURA WENT ON A DATE WITH A FRIEND OF MINE. SHE HAD THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON HIM AND TOLD ME THAT THE DATE WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HER LIFE. AFTER THE FUNERAL, AN OLD FRIEND OF MY MOTHER'S EXPRESSED HER SYMPATHY ABOUT ME LOSING MY FRIEND. MY MOTHER WAS CONFUSED AND ASKED HOW SHE KNEW THAT WE WERE FRIENDS. THE FRIEND SAID THAT MAURA AND I WERE INSEPARABLE WHEN WE WERE ABOUT FIVE AND LIVED IN THE SAME COMPLEX TOGETHER. I DIDN'T KNOW...
