Baynes, Alexzenia Louise Williams departed from this life on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital after a long illness and entered into eternity to be with the Lord. Zena was born on June 19, 1962 in Newburgh, to Harold and Eleanor Baynes. She was the first daughter born of six children. She was educated in the Newburgh School District and graduated from NFA class of 1980. She continued her education at Orange Community College. While attending OCCC, she worked for IBM. Zena left Newburgh in 1985. She was married to Stanley Lee Williams, in union she had three children: Stanley Levar Williams, Steven Lamar Williams, Samara Lynn Williams. As a young lady growing up in Newburgh, she worked with children in the Head Start Program. Zena had a love for children. She also had a love for bingo, pokeno, and shopping on QVC, HSN and the Food TV Network, Zena enjoyed most of all, Joel Olsteen every Sunday morning. Zena was a kind and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. And she will be dearly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories with parents, Harold "Pee Wee" and Eleanor Baynes of Newburgh; her husband, Stanley L. Williams of Newburgh; two sons, Stanley L. Williams of Newburgh, and Steven L. Williams of Manassas, Va.; one daughter "her princess", Samara L. Williams of Newburgh; four brothers: Harold A. Baynes and Jeanette Grimsley of Newburgh, Andre K. Baynes and Malissa M. Baynes (who she called her favorite sister-in-law) of Newburgh, William C. Baynes and Brenda Robinson of Newburgh, Kevin K. Baynes of Schenectady, N.Y., and a loving sister, Kathleen M. Baynes (who took very special care of her along with her daughter, Tyleia A. Howard), and James Cromitie of Newburgh. She also has three sisters:, Darvi Baynes of the Bronx, N.Y., Ceclia Ann Baynes of Highland Falls, and Rachel Baynes of Newburgh. A special nephew raised like her own, Kevin A. Baynes and wife, LaShanna Baynes of Newburgh. A favorite cousin, Dean Alden and Sonya Baynes of Mitchelville, Md.; one uncle, William Hampton of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two aunts, Rosalle Vaughn of Chesapeake, Va., and Sadie and Fred Aragon of Chesterfield, Va.; one great-aunt, Alexzania Williams of Newburgh (whom she was named after). And her oldest living cousin Virginia "Doote" Bullock. A very special friend, Robin Holland of Newburgh. And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, god-children and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, William and Rose Every; and her paternal grandparents, Curlin and Mary M. Baynes; a daughter, Samara L. William (who was a twin of Steven L. Williams). Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 12 to 6 p.m. at House of Refuge, 131 Broadway, Newburgh. Services will follow at 6 p.m. in the church. Elder Jeffrey Woody will officiate. Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Brutus W. Hodge Funeral Home.
Bensler, Richard Allen Jr. age 41, passed away at his home in Concord, N.C. Born August 4, 1962 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Richard A. Bensler Sr. and Jane L. Bensler of Concord, N.C. Mr. Bensler was a graduate of NFA, Orange Community College and Damon College in Buffalo. Mr. Bensler was the owner and operator of Mail-n-Things in Charlotte, N.C. and Harrisburg, N.C. Survivors in addition to his parents are a sister, Holly Royston of New Iberia, La.; a brother, Timothy A. Bensler and his wife, Janet, of Concord; and three nephews, Steven, Jacob and Nicholas Bensler. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, 251 N. Union St., Concord, N.C. 28025. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for the Bensler family.
Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 Grammypgh@aol.com - Karen Murphy, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, formerly a longtime resident of the Town of Newburgh, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. She was 44. Daughter of Leverett S. Murphy and the late Audrey A. Knapp Murphy, she was born April 26, 1962 in West Point. Karen was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed her beloved frog collection. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed and we will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her father, Leverett S. Murphy of Newburgh; sisters, Laura Sheposh and her husband, James, Amy Murphy and Ellen Murphy all of Newburgh; nieces, Colleen, Gillian and Caitlyn; nephew, Liam; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A funeral service will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
