Loretta Thompson - Our Beloved Sister departed this life to be with the
Lord on September 27, 2013 at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Loretta was born May 18, 1961 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Deacon Cecil
Boykin, Jr. and Pastor Ruby T. Boykin. She was 52. Loretta graduated from
Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, NY in 1979. She attended Dutchess
Community College and Orange County Community College where she was
pursuing a degree in Nursing. She worked in many capacities dealing with
individuals with special needs including Hudson Valley DDSO in Thiells,
NY. She was on the Client Rights Committee from Mercy Care Group Home,
Inc. in Clinton, NC. Loretta, whom loved the Lord, was a devoted member of
Greater Mount Calvary Church in Clinton, NC. Loretta was joined in holy
matrimony to Presley Lee Thompson on September 21, 1993. He was her
beloved husband for twenty years. To this union was Kewan Holder of
Raleigh, NC, Dean Thompson, of Wingate, NC, Junior Thompson of Clinton,
NC, Lisa Thompson of Clinton, NC, Janice Thompson, Tamika Thompson and
Rebecca Edwards, all of Jamaica, WI, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Sister Thompson also leaves to cherish her memories, five sisters: Linda
Adelikun (Baba Tunde) of Buffalo, NY, Penny Williams of Pensacola, FL,
Linday Ashford (Anthony) of Raleigh, NC, Tanisha Darden (Abdual) of Spring
Lake, NC, and Sataria Boykin of Portsmouth, VA; one brother, Cecil Boykin,
III of Buffalo, NY. She had nine grandchildren. Loretta has many loving
aunts and uncles in which she loved dearly. Loretta leaves to cherish her
special aunt, Emma Grable of Cornwall, NY and aunt, Nellie Fisher of
Roseboro, NC; godson, Maurice Moore of Clinton, NC and goddaughter, Jenean
Greene of Poughkeepsie, NY, and many more godchildren. Loretta leaves to
cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved
dearly, as well as special friends: Daisy Ponder of Newburgh, NY and Sonja
Whitted of Clinton, NC. Loretta holds a special place in a all of our
hearts and we have been blessed to have had her in our lives. Visitation

Briggs,
Margaret Marie King departed this life Saturday, December 15, 2007. Margie
was born August 17, 1961 the daughter of Rev. Dr. Coleman Briggs and the
late Dorothy Mae Briggs in Beacon, New York. Margie graduated from
Newburgh Free Academy in 1979. She also pursued a nursing certificate at
Mount Saint Mary’s College. She found outlet for her caretaking talents as
an LPN while working at Montrose, Castle Point Veterans Hospital and New
York Military Academy. Margie was by far the most outspoken of her family.
She spared no words, she was humorous, honest and creative. She played the
tambourine with power and spirit. Her talents as a writer were clearly
seen in the presentations of her eleven-year-old-son and muse, Prayer.
Margie authored all of Prayer’s speeches which he memorized for every
occasion and she has already penned Prayer’s first sermon-to-be with
“hallelujah” and “Thank You Jesus” already added in She leaves to
celebrate her life her father, Coleman Briggs ( Dollyann ); one son,
Prayer L. Moore (the son of Lafayette A. Moore); two daughters, NaKeisha
N. King-Ammons ( Joseph ) all of Newburgh, NY and Mercedes L. King of New
Windsor, NY; four brothers, William R. Briggs ( Shirley ) of New Windsor,
NY, Coleman E. Briggs ( Phyllis ) of Esopus, NY, Bruce A. ( Rose ) of

Bunting,
Derrick Kelvin formerly of Newburgh, went from Labor to Reward at 6 a.m.
on October 20, 2007 while residing in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He
was a Retired MSgt of 27 years in the Air National Guard, Maintenance
Squadron, Stewart ANG Base in Newburgh, N.Y. Derrick was the son of the
late Abram Bunting and Dorothy Bryant Griffin of New Bern, N.C. Derrick
Graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1979. He joined the Air force
shortly after high school. He served in many capacities but mainly as a
Recruiter and Aircraft Maintenance where he helped a lot of young people
towards a bright future. Derrick was a member of Soul Saving Station for
most of his life where he sang with the Heavenly Echoes; he helped young
people find their way to Christ. He later joined Life Restoration where he
served in a number of capacities one being picking up bread and passing it
out to those in need. Derrick was dedicated to his daughter Shandy and her
daughter Shemaiah Bryant along with his other grandchildren shared with
his wife Henrietta (Pepper) Bunting. Derrick and Pepper married July 3,
2003. Before they were married, they were good friends and were in the
same unit for 3 years. The traveling duo was their nickname because they
were always on the road going to visit family and friends. Derrick never
minded helping those in need and never expected anything in return. If he
could lift someone spirits with just listening, giving them a ride or
talking about the goodness of the Lord he would do it. He loved the Lord
with all of his heart. Derrick leaves to mourn his mother Dorothy Bryant

Clark, Michael J. 48, of Montgomery, peacefully entered into rest at
O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, NY, on Thursday, July 8, 2010. He
was born September 6, 1961 in Newburgh, NY, the son of the late John Clark
and June Lozier Clark. Michael was a site manager for two historic
museums: The New Windsor Cantonment and Knox Headquarters in New Windsor.
He was a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution and the American
Living History and Farm Museum Assn. On April 30, 1988, Michael married
Kathryn Bullock in St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall, NY.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, at home; his sister, Gail Caldwell
and her husband, Mark of Newburgh; two brothers, Richard Clark of Reston,
VA and David Clark and fiancee, Evelyn Biscardi of Highland; numerous
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark Clark.

who was currently working for Comfort Master, a heating and air
conditioning company in Cold Spring. He was a loving father and husband,
and a loyal Mets fan. A family statement reads,"Jimmy was loved by all who
had the privilege of knowing him. He fought a courageous battle and will
be greatly missed." Survivors include his father, Bernard Dolan; his wife,
Janine Certo Dolan at home; his children, Ian Patrick Dolan and Emma

died Monday, February 20, 2006 evening at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center,
Burlington, Vt., where he had been a patient since Thursday. He had been
in failing health for the past 4 years. He was born April 1, 1961 in
Newburgh, the son of Wilbur E. and Annette Armstrong Howe. He graduated
from Newburgh Free Academy in 1979 and then attended Mount Mary College in
Newburgh. He was a self-employed sheet rock installer, until becoming
disabled. He was a member of the Sons of the American, Akwesasne. He
enjoyed baseball, softball, speed skating and football and was active in
sports. He is survived by his mother, Annette Armstrong, Akwesasne; his
father: Wilbur E. Howe, New Windsor; his brothers: Brian Howe, Akwesasne,
Jeffrey Howe, Newburgh; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends may call
starting Thursday afternoon at Kateri Hall, Akwesasne until the time of

John Peter 51, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Bradenton,
FL. A native of New Windsor, NY and long-time resident of Naples, FL. John
was the second of five children born to Michael D. and Marlene C. Kane.
John was a graduate of St. Joseph's Elementary School and the Newburgh
Free Academy. He also attended EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University. John
was a black-belt in karate and loved to boat and fish in the Gulf. He
worked for First Union Bank and then UBS Wealth Management as a
stockbroker. John was a man with life-long friends who always looked out
for him, even as he struggled at times. A loving father whose treasure was
his children, he leaves behind his sons, Ryan and John-Michael; his
daughter, Krista Kane; and his former wife, Gina Kane. He is also survived
by his mother, Marlene Kane; his brothers Brian and Charles Kane; his
sister, Susan Moran; and two nieces and four nephews. A requiem Mass will
be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 625 111th Avenue
North, Naples, FL, 34108 on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. A

Raleigh, NC in 2000. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary's College
receiving a masters degree in accounting. He was predeceased by his

Robert J. "Butch" III, an employee of A.H. Harris and Sons, and longtime

The son of the late Robert and Marion Marsh Maneely Jr., Butch was born
January 8, 1961 in Newburgh. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Butch is

Newburgh, as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Butch

Miller,
Clarence J. of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully at his home Monday,
December 26, 2011. He was 50 years old. Clarence was born August 13, 1961
in Brooklyn, NY; the son of Clarence Plummer and Rosa Lee Miller.
Clarence, a 43-year resident of the Newburgh/Poughkeepsie area, worked as
a salesman at Newburgh Park Motors and graduated from Newburgh Free
Academy in 1979. Clarence attended Dutchess Community College and made
Calvary Full Gospel Faith Center of Newburgh his place of worship.
Clarence loved being Uncle Clarence to his nieces and nephews and loved
his children dearly. He is survived by his son, Cerone Miller of Gastonia,
NC; two daughters, Brittany Leigh and Destiny Rose Miller of Knoxville,

August 10, 2008 at home. He is born September 3, 1960 in Newburgh NY the
son of Donald J. Murphy Sr. and Trudie DeGroat Sumstad. The husband of
Patty Hokanson Murphy, they were married on May 26, 1984. Donald was an
N.F.A. graduate. Survivors include his wife Patti at home; father Donald
and wife, Sherry of Newburgh; mother, Trudie and husband David of
Wallkill; two brothers, Roger Murphy and his wife Denise of Newburgh;
William Murphy and his wife Kathleen of New Windsor; mother-in-law Louise
Sommerfeld; father-in-law, Gerald Hokanson, Sr.; two sister-in-laws, Toni
Hokanson and Teri Garcia; two brother-in-laws, Gerald & Kenneth
Hokanson and several nieces and nephews and his cat Sandra. A family

Nacri, Anthony "Nac" J. a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest
on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 52
years old. Son of Joanne (Cubito) Nacri and the late Salvatore V. Nacri,
he was born August 22, 1961 in Newburgh. Anthony was a graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy, class of 1979, and the Culinary Institute of
America in 1981. He was a loving son and brother, devoted friend, and an
avid NY Giants fan. He will be missed by all. Survivors include his
mother, Joanne; his sister, Angela Nacri, his "brothers", Stan, Randy and
Dave Scott and Bob Diamond; aunts, RoseAnn Cubito Gershyender and Doris
DeCrosta; aunt and uncle, Geraldine and Joe Kovarnik; his godson, David
Lionheart; his little buddy Kayla and her brothers, Ryan, Matt and Steven
Gould; several cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father,
Salvatore Nacri, paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, his uncle
Joseph Cubito and Angelo Nacri. The family would like to extend a
heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Cornwall

Napoli, Linda E. Schreiner of the Town of Newburgh, a respiratory
therapist for the Orange Regional Medical Center entered into rest,
Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in
Middletown, NY. She was 52. The daughter of the late Orazio S. "Ray"
Napoli and Violet Jennings Napoli, she was born July 27, 1961 in Newburgh.
Linda was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Newburgh.
Survivors include her mother, Violet Napoli of the Town of Newburgh; a
son, Orazio Schreiner and daughter, Nicole Schreiner, both of Newburgh;
brothers, Daniel Napoli and wife, Tina of Bedford Corners, NY and Russell
Napoli, and wife Marlene of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Ann Napoli of Maine;
grandchildren, Miguel and Mark Sola; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Linda was predeceased by her brother, David

Terri Ann Hulse, of Cornwall, NY passed away July 9, 2004 at her home,
surrounded by her family. She was 45. Terri was born on July 3, 1959 in
Newburgh. She was the daughter of Michael and Wilma Scott Pettine Jr. of
New Windsor. Terri attended Newburgh Schools and was a 1979 graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy. Family statement: "Terri fought many battles in her
life and she was never one to give up, and through her 2-year battle with
her brain tumor, not one time did she give up. She was a fighter right to
the end. We will remember her always for her braveness and her strength
throughout the fight. She showed us that life is way too short and to
appreciate each and every day." Terri is survived by her husband, Warren
Hulse; her son, Michael Hulse; her parents, Michael and Wilma Pettine Jr.
of New Windsor; her sister, Michele McCurry and her husband, Darren, of
Newburgh; her godson and nephew, Christopher McCurry; and her nephew, Kyle
McCurry of Newburgh. Terri is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles,
cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Terri also
had a very special person in her life that survives her, Barbara Miller of

Scarry, Jean Louise of Newburgh, retired Senior Secure Hospital Treatment
Assistant for Mid Hudson Psychiatric Center, entered into rest on May 26,
2015 in Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 54. The
daughter of Patricia Flynn Scarry and the late Timothy F. Scarry, she was
born April 9, 1961 in Inwood, NYC. Although Jean was a very private
person, her sense of humor and love of animals will be dearly missed. She
was always one for the underdog, taking care of pets that no one else
wanted. Most important was her devotion to her mother, Patricia. She is
survived by her mother, Patricia; her siblings, Katherine Scarry McAneney
and her husband John, Timothy F. Scarry and his wife Judy, Dennis Scarry
and Christopher Scarry; her nieces and nephews, Kerri McAneney, who is
also her goddaughter, Laura McAneney, Allison Leigh Scarry and Svetlana
Leigh Scarry; her cousins, Barbara Healy Cook and her husband Al and their
son Colin, Brian Healey, Michael McMahon, Patrick Scarry and his daughter
Sydney Scarry, Theresa Scarry Sherman and her husband Fred and their

Michael T. of Newburgh, N.Y. entered into rest in the Town of
Newburgh. He was 44. Son of William and Marilyn Freeman Scheppy, he was
born on February 25, 1961 in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Michael died Nov. 2005. He
was married to Patti Tavolacci Scheppy, who survives at home. A family
statement reads: "Michael loved his wife, sons and friends dearly. He had
a great sense of humor and was quick witted; a "gentle giant" who was a
friend to all." Michael was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in
Newburgh. He was a senior account executive for Crossmark in Upper Saddle
River, N.J. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his two
sons, Stephen and Scott Scheppy at home; his parents, William and Marilyn

avid fan of the NY Jets and Yankees, and devoted his time to be the
primary caregiver to his mother. He is survived by his loving mother,

Smith, Jeffrey J. 52, passed peacefully early Sunday morning April 6th,
2014 at his home in Norwalk, CT. He was the devoted husband of Lori Ann
Palkimas Smith and the loving father of daughter Lilah and son Julius
Smith. Jeff was born in NYC on October 31st, 1961. The son of John J.
Smith, Jr. and the recently deceased Jean R. Smith of Naples, FL, Jeff
also leaves a brother John J. Smith III of Newburgh, NY. Jeff grew up in
Newburgh, attended Berklee College of Music, Boston, and earned a
Bachelors of Science in Physics from NYU Polytechnic Institute of
Brooklyn. An accomplished pianist, Jeff's passion was driven by classical
and jazz music. He toured with acid jazz guitarist Melvin Sparks and
performed with soul music legend Idris Muhammad among others. Throughout
his life, Jeff had an unquenchable desire to learn along with an obsessive
interest in golf and baseball. He was as likely to pontificate about a
single golf shot as he was to elaborate upon quantum theory. In his career
in technology, he was among those computer scientists who helped change
the way business and the internet come together. Working with Netscape,
Sun Microsystems, Innovativ, Agilysys and lastly OnX USA as a Senior
Solutions Architect, Jeff attained numerous certifications and was
recognized for excellence by his peers and employers as well. Jeff's
family would like to thank Dr. Barry Boyd of Greenwich and his staff for
their caring attention, as well as Jeff's colleagues at OnX for their
kindness and support. His friends and family will miss Jeff forever, but
will always remember his music, his brilliance and his loving heart. A
memorial celebration of Jeff's life will be held at 3 pm on the afternoon
of Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at St. Paul's On-The-Green, 60 East Avenue,

Stevens, Margaret Jean Muller, 52, of Mitchell died Thursday, September 5,
2013 at her home in Mitchell under hospice care. Funeral services will be
Tuesday, September 10, at 2:00 PM at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in
Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday evening at the Bittner
Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Margaret Jean Muller was born May 31, 1961 in
Newburgh, NY to Ralph and Olive (Bush) Stevens. She graduated from
Newburgh Free Academy in 1979, SUNY at Cortland in 1982 and Mount Saint
Mary College in 1988 with a BA Degree in elementary education and a MS
Degree in special education. On July 16, 1988 she married Rev. William C.
Muller Jr. at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Newburgh. They lived in
Newburgh and Montgomery, NY until 2003 and then resided in Berkley, CA
until 2006. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she
served on the Altar Guild, the Search Committee and the Church Choir,
member of Grace Church in Middleton, NY, attended Church of the Advent in
San Francisco, CA and St. Clare's Church in Pleasanton, CA. She was a
member of the NYS Academy of Teaching and Learning. In 2006 they moved to
Mitchell where she was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She was
employed at Dakota Wesleyan University as Adjunct Professor from 2008 to
2010. From 2007 until 2011 she taught at the Hanson Schools in Alexandria.
She also worked at Palace City Federal Credit Union for one year. Margaret
loved to read and cook. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Liam Muller
Jr., three sons: William Muller III, Nashville, TN; Bryan Muller,
Watertown and Bradley Muller, Mitchell and one brother, Ralph (Bernadette)
Stevens, Milton, NY. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel and her
parents
