Cutney, John - John was living in Newburgh when he passed away between 1998 and 2001. ......... John, a life long resident of the Town of Newburgh, passed away at home on January 28, 1999. He was 48 years old. Saidly enough his father passed away only 2 weeks later at the age of 84. John is survived by his brother Charles and his nephews Michael and Mathew Cutney. Probably one of the most opinionated people I have ever known, most of his friends took it stride because it was John or "Sweat", a nickname he barely tolerated from only his closest friends. John was one of the masterminds behind bringing Sly & The Family Stone to NFA and reminded most of us often, of just that fact. He also scored for seven of his friends front seats to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at the Fillmore East. A show I will never forget and which is partially recorded on the "4 Way Street" Album.

          Meola, Bart

Bart Meola, died sometime in the 90s to the best of our knowledge. He played in the band called the Barbarians in the 60s as well as Silver Caboose Band, and Hit and Run Band. Last known to have been living in Rockland County...

Posted by Vickie Meola (Bart's sister)  Bart did relocate to Rockland County, where he continued to play in a number of bands.  The longest running was Hit 'n' Run, and acoustic, and an electric version.  Through the 1980's, they were well known at the Jersey shore, LBI, where they played 4 nights a week each summer at a place called Nardi's.  The weekends were spent playing weddings mostly.  The rest of the year they could be found in and around Rockland, Bergen, and Manhattan.  Bart continued to play until his last gig on December 31, 1995.  He passed away on January 3, 1996, and is still sorely missed by many.  Luckily he left quite a few recordings to remember him by.

Posted by Bill Norvell Here is a picture of Bart with Bruce Springsteen. Both very young. One of the many people he met while in the music business.

Toback, Gloria Waldman, age 63 of the Town of Greenville, NY passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 10, 1951 in Newburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Bernard and Shirley Slott Toback. Gloria worked as a certified dental assistant with her husband Dr. Larry Waldman at Gloria Dental, Middletown, NY. Gloria was the love of my life. Her smile was the most beautiful in the world, lighting up the room with the special "glow" of hers. Her name fit her well, she was my "Glorious Gloria". Generous, compassionate, loyal, loving, and especially forgiving were a few of the virtues this special women possessed. But she was also a " tough cookie" and watch out if caught doing the "wrong" thing to her friends or herself. How lucky was I to be given this beautiful gift from God. Certainly I didn't deserve it! The long winding road of my crazy life's journey always led back to Gloria. She was my rock always there to bail "crazy" Larry out of another jackpot. Gloria was my wife, as well as my certified dental assistant. Always putting the patient care first, even at the expense of driving her husband mad! But that was one of the things I loved most about her. Patients upon entering the operatory, the first question they asked was "where is Gloria?!!" She was the comforter, their protection from the "evil" Dr. Waldman! Gloria was an avid dog lover of our Golden Retriever's: Sunny, Connor, Casper and Stoney, next to me, they were the luckiest dogs in the world. How she looked and cared for "our boys" only further illustrated the beauty of her soul. Gloria was a loving and loyal sister to her brother Charles, sisters Linda and Renee. A better friend you couldn't ask for. I am devastated by her passing . She will forever be my " brown -eyed girl". Heartbroken am I and life will never be the same without her! Love you eternally my Glorious Gloria. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Larry Waldman at home; her daughter, JoAnne Fitzgerald of Wurtsboro, NY; her brother, Charles Toback of Newburgh; her two sisters, Linda Pederson of Syracuse, NY and Renee Woods of Newburgh. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 30th at her home, 45 Old Mountain Rd., Town of Greenville, NY. Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E.              Valentine, Anthony
Posted by Dave Dowling 69   Anthony (Tony) Valentine, Jr. Born: Mar. 16, 1951 Newburgh NY  passed away suddenly on November 1, 1992, at the age of 41 in Piermont, N.Y. (Rockland County). He was predeceased in 1979 by his lovely mother, Kathryn. Tony attended St. Mary School in Newburgh from 1st through 8th grade. There he was a scholar, an altar server with St. Mary's Church, a "punch ball" home run champ, and a humorous and entertaining guy. After graduating in 1965, Tony was accepted at Newburgh’s St. Patrick’s High School for his freshman year. A year later, Tony transferred to NFA where his academic and athletic achievements continued. For a few years, Tony was a successful member of both the track and cross country teams.  And for a time, he also played lead guitar and sang vocals for a few local rock and roll bands. After graduation he attended a few colleges, including the University of Arizona in the early 1970s. Following his college education, it's rumored Tony was in the house painting business. Tony will be remembered for his sharp wit, his athletic ability, and his quick mind. Whether it be studying math, science, Latin, or guitar, learning always came easy to him.  He definitely had a gift. At the time of his passing, we understand Tony was survived by a wife and daughter, as well as three sisters and his father.  More information on Tony can be found at:http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=5256058
