Bolduc, Robert "Bob" 68, of Boulder, CO, died March 18, 2012 at
Select Specialty Hospital in Denver. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be
held at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., April 4, 2012 at Mountain View United
Methodist Church, 355 Ponca Place, Boulder, CO. Bob came to Colorado and
soon met his wife-to-be, Susan, in 1979, which began the happiest and
most fulfilling time in his life. Bob was born to Leo and Josephine
Bolduc on June 28, 1943, in Newburgh, N.Y. There he spent his youth,
where he loved playing baseball, which eventually led to his playing
semi-pro ball. He graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,
and began his work with IBM while still a 19 year old college student.
In his spare time, Bob worked as a NY cab driver; this skill was
indispensable while navigating the streets of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico,
as a vacationer later in life. He was proud of his service as a
volunteer firefighter in Newburgh, as well as his time spent as a U.S.
Air Force Reservist. Bob transferred to Boulder with IBM in the 1970s
and retired from that facility with 30 years of service. He worked in
several departments throughout his career, but most enjoyed his time as
a Disaster Recovery expert. After his IBM retirement, he performed the
same type of work for Coors, in Golden for five years. Bob's love of
baseball as a youth translated into coaching Little League Baseball in
Boulder when his sons began to play; he dedicated twelve years to this
passion. Bob thoroughly enjoyed fishing and boating at the Rod and Gun
Club near his home, as well as snowmobiling up in the mountains. Anyone
who knew Bob knew that he loved traveling to Las Vegas or Blackhawk,
closer to home, to play the slot machines; he seemed to have incredibly
good luck whenever he played. For many years, Bob enjoyed active
memberships in the American Legion and the Elks Club of Boulder. Sue and
Bob took many wonderful trips together, including vacations in Mexico,
Alaska, and Hawaii, and often included family or close friends. They
also were frequent concert-goers and attended many wonderful shows
together, Neil Diamond and Cirque de Soleil being amongst their
favorites. Bob's dogs were always his trusty companions, providing hours
of entertainment and bringing much joy. Survivors: his loving wife,
Susan, his daughter, Leanne Lukenbill (husband, Mike, and daughters Emma
and Grace), and his sons, Revan MacQueen (wife, Melissa, and daughters
Jessie and Charlotte) and Andrew MacQueen (wife, Jennifer, and daughters
Riley and Kayla). Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and
friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Dr.,
Lafayette, CO 80026 or to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323
55th St., Boulder, CO 80301.
Nicholas George Brooks
Lieutenant Commander
VA-196, CVW-2, USS RANGER
United States Navy
18 May 1943 - 02 January 1970
Newburgh, New York
Panel 15W Line 117
The 22 Nov 1969 incidents mentioned above involved the loss of two
aircraft and three of four crewmen:
In A-6A BuNo 155613:
Cdr L W Richards, picked up
LTJG Richard C Deuter
In A-6A BuNo 155607:
LCDR Richard F Collins,
LT Michael E Quinn
In "Vietnam Air Losses" Chris Hobson offers the following description of
Lieutenant Brooks' loss in A-6A BuNo 152937:
"Two Intruders were dispatched on a raid on a storage dump near the Mu
Gia Pass in southern Laos under the control of a USAF FAC. As LT Fryar
made his second 40 degree dive on the target the aircraft was seen to
explode at about 5400 feet and the starboard wing separated from the
aircraft. Two good parachutes were seen by both the FAC and the other
Intruder crew. . . . One of the crew was seen lying on the ground still
attached to his parachute. A pararescueman was lowered to the ground and
tried to attach a hoist to the airman, who was identified as LT Fryar
and was apparently dead, but heavy ground fire forced the helicopter
away and the pararescueman only just escaped with his life. . . .
Encroaching darkness put an end to further rescue attempts that day . .
."
When SAR efforts began again at dawn on 03 Jan LT Fryar's body and
parachute had been removed. Although intermittent emergency radio
"beeper" signals were heard, no contact of any kind was made with LT
Brooks. Both men were classed as Missing in Action.
On 03 Feb 1982, Nicholas Brooks' remains were repatriated, with positive
identification announced on 04 Mar 1982. At his family's request, his
remains were buried at sea on March 25, 1982.
Bruce Fryar's remains have not been repatriated.

Posted by Fats Nick, It's been 45 years since we last saw each other in the halls of Newburgh Free Academy enjoying our youth. Since I came home from my Navy tour I have often thought of you and have kept you in my prayers, especially on our Veterans and Memorial days. They have so much meaning to me these days as I remember you and say my prayers. Your old friends and classmates will never forget you. I don’t know who was the most popular back then, you or Jack Wolpe. You both were always modest while remaining the center of attention. You were always smiling and taking the lead in everything you became involved with. I want to thank you for defending our freedom in a time when that wasn’t important to a lot of Americans. These were the same patriots that waved flags and cheered when 52 hostages arrived in Newburgh from Iran in the 80’s. Not a one of them was around for you or the other Vets when they came home from Nam. Some things can take a lifetime to be forgotten or forgiven. May the perpetual light always shine upon you my friend.

“Al” Jr. of Calabash, N.C., formerly of Newburgh, entered into rest
Friday, July 4, 2003 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. after a courageous battle
with lung cancer. He was 60. Born October 31, 1942 in Newburgh, he was
the son of the late Albert and Catherine Grace McKay Sr. Al was employed
by Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corp. for 33 years. He proudly served
his country in the US Navy. He served as past president of Meadow Hill
Homeowners Association, was manager of the Town of Newburgh Little
League for many years, was a member of BPOE Elks in Newburgh and
Calabash, N.C., served on the planning board of Carolina Shores, and was
a member of American Legion in Calabash, N.C. In early 1999 he retired
to Carolina Shores, N.C., and built his dream home. He was an avid
golfer and fisherman who loved his pontoon boat. He also enjoyed bowling
and playing softball and baseball in the City of Newburgh. Mostly, his
family was most precious to him, especially his 3 granddaughters who
will sorely miss their "Papa". He was a totally unselfish, benevolent
and loving man who touched and blessed the lives of everyone who knew
him, both young and old. His sense of humor and love of life were
contagious to everyone around him. His year long battle with cancer and
its accompanying complications showed his true heroic, courageous spirit
and strong sense of fortitude and bravery. Knowing that his suffering is
over and that he is at peace with God gives us who love him some comfort
and the strength to continue his legacy of making the world a better
place. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia Ann
(Ferguson) McKay; loving daughter Stacy Sutter; and loving son Sean
McKay; grandchildren Lauren Marie, Kelly Catherine, and Emily Patricia
