Adams, Edna "Midge" Giangrasso, of Highland, N.Y. a bookkeeper for
Effron-Meenan Fuel Oil in Poughkeepsie, retired since 1998, and a longtime
resident of Highland, formerly of Newburgh, died unexpectedly Tuesday,
Jan. 2, 2001, at Vassar Brothers Hospital. She was 67. The daughter of
Elvin R. Adams and Anna May Fredericks, she was born Oct. 10, 1933, in
Newburgh. She was married to Prospero ("Gin") Giangrasso Jr. on Sept. 2,
1956, at St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. He predeceased her on May 5,
2000. A Graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, she was a member of St.
Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Highland. Survivors include three
daughters, Karen Morales of Highland, Susan Weiss of Marlboro and Diana
Sroka of Auburn, N.Y; one son, James Giangrasso of Highland; two sisters,
Ruth Gowdy of New Windsor and Helen Foster of Gloversville, N.Y; two
brothers, John "Jack" Adams of Accord and Roy Adams of Newburgh; 11
grandchildren; and 19 nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by
two brothers, Elvin Adams and Charles Adams. Calling hours will be from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Michael Torsone Memorial
Funeral Home Inc., 38 Main St., Highland. A gathering will take place at 9
a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass
at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Highland. Burial will be in Lloyd
Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the

Alisandrelli, John Robert of Napanoch, a life long resident of the area, died March 11, 2007 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. He was 72 years of age. The son of the late Michael and Anna Alisandrelli, he was born on July 11, 1934 in Newburgh, N.Y. John was very proud of serving in the United States Marine Corps; he worked for the City of Newburgh Planning Department for a number of years, Shaw Engineering and was Vice President for MJA Developers. John was a loving and devoted father and will be sorely missed by his family. He is survived by his children, John and his wife MaryEllen of Chester, N.Y., Paul of Newburgh, N.Y. and Elizabeth of Clearwater, Fla., Leo of Napanoch, N.Y., Jeff of Newburgh, N.Y. and Michael and his wife Sandy of Palm Harbor Fla. His grandchildren, Michael, Gina and Amber and his two great grandchildren, Deanna and Joseph also survive him. John was predeceased by his son Timothy and brother Michael. Anderson, Patricia "Pat" Corrado of Newburgh, entered into rest
on Monday, September 1, 2008 in Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her
loving family. She was 73. Daughter of the late Grover and Margaret
Murphy Anderson, she was born August 14, 1935 in West Point. She was
married to the late Benjamin Corrado. Mom was a fighter whose strength
of spirit and determination allowed her to battle through the toughest
of life's challenges. She was an avid sports fan and joyously followed
the efforts of her husband, children, grandchildren and of course her
beloved Yankees and Giants. Her beautiful hand tilled garden brightened
the whole neighborhood. Her warm heart and gentle good humor will be
sadly missed by all who came in contact with her. Survivors include her
loving children, Joseph, Donald and his wife Liz, and Benjamin, all of
Newburgh, Michael of Wallkill, and Diane Holbert and her husband, Greg
of Walden; brothers, Hilliard "Bud" and his wife Barbara, Gerald
"Corkey", Donald and his wife Ernestine and Howard Anderson, all of
Newburgh; sister Judy Case of Newburgh, granchildren Marc, Michael and

Atwood, Lorraine F. a longtime resident of Beacon, N.Y., and formerly of
Newburgh, died on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at St. Luke's Cornwall
Hospital, Newburgh Campus in Newburgh. She was 71. Lorraine was born on
February 12, 1936 in Newburgh to the late Austin and Frances Mandigo
Atwood. Lorraine was a retired Executive Secretary for I.B.M. in
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was a member of the Friends of Young Morse
Society in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Lorraine is survived by close friends that
were like family to her. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy
Lahey and Patricia Atwood. The family will be present to receive friends
on Sunday, April 16, 2007 from 3-5 p.m. at Coloni Funeral Home, 3001

Barnes, Judith Suzanne 78, of Wallingford, departed this life June 25,
2012. Born in Newburgh, NY, December 14, 1933, she was the daughter of
the late Mary Rome King and Joseph Stewart Barnes. She was a longtime
resident of West Haven and retired from the V.A. Medical Center in West
Haven after many years of service. Ms. Barnes is survived by her
daughters, Druscilla Coleman, Ramona Douglas, Desiree Knox, Judith
Martin and Davida Coleman Davis. A celebration of Ms. Barnes' life and
legacy will be held Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist

Bartal, Joan P. Fletcher, of New Windsor, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. She was 77. Daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Queens) Bartal, she was born February 14, 1936 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Thomas Fletcher, who predeceased her in 2000. Joan was a self-employed hairdresser in her earlier years, then waitressed at many diners in the local area. She is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Hughes and her husband Charles and their daughters Isabella and Hunter of Nevada; and her grandsons, Blas Barerra Jr., Zachary Barerra and Brandon Barerra. In addition to her husband Thomas, she was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Fletcher and Sharon Barerra. Bloomer, James P. age 78, of the Town of Newburgh, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. Mr. Bloomer was born November 4, 1935 in Newburgh. He is the son of the late Roland and the late Gertrude (Mansfield) Bloomer. He married Marcella Del Villano. James was a United States Navy Veteran. He worked for IBM in Fishkill as a Quality Control Technician before his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Marcella at home; his daughters: Marcellina and her husband, John Eng, Sr. of New Windsor and Jody Ann and her husband, Paul Makara of Garnerville; his brother, John Bloomer of Texas; sisters: Elizabeth Maher of California and Claire Flannery of Newburgh; sisters-in-law: Angie Bloomer of Newburgh and Josephine Bloomer of Newburgh; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eugene M. Coleman, formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. entered into rest
Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in Norfolk, Va. He was 72. The son of the
late Samuel and Reba Coleman, of Newburgh, he was born September 22,
1934 in New York City. A resident of Newburgh, until 1990, Eugene was a
graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and a devout member of St. Patrick's
Church. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He is
survived by his beloved brother, Rodney of Tampa, Fla.; niece Terri of
Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; nephew, Stephen of Los Angeles, Calif.; an aunt,
Bette Beldon; and cousins, Julia and Harold of Vineland, N.J. and loving
friends, Wellington Eggleston and Anna Mitchell of Norfolk, Va.

Coykendall, Barbara A. Calcagni 72, of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully on March 19, 2008 with her husband and children by her side. She was born September 6, 1935 in Newburgh, NY. She married Cosmo Calcagni, who survives at home, on February 20, 1955. Prior to moving to Venice 13 years ago, she resided in Hyde Park. Barbara was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Venice East Golf Association. She was a graduate of the D.C. BOCES LPN program and worked at Ferncliff Nursing Home. She loved working in her garden, and was always knitting afghans for friends and family. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid golfer who won many awards. A warm, loving and very spiritual person, she was always ready with a laugh or a hug for a friend in need. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years, her children and their spouses; Cathy McCue and Jose Morillo of Poughkeepsie, Joanne and Tom Lown of Hyde Park, Gary and Darlene Calcagni of Hyde Park; her much loved grandchildren; Nicole Perkins, Heather DiTrocchio, Steven and Alan Lown, and Scott and Stacy Calcagni, her great-grandchildren; Ricky, Ayva, Megan, Brandon, Kayla and Gabrielle and her beloved pet Papillon, Sassy. Holmes, Nancy E. Amato peacefully entered into rest at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh campus on Friday, April 24th, 2015. She was 81. Nancy was born on October 10, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of George and Florence Owens Holmes. Both parents predeceased their daughter. Nancy was married to Frank Amato for 58 years who survives her at home. Nancy was a 75 year area resident. Nancy was in banking for over 35 years and retired as a Bank Manager/ Assistant Vice-President for Fleet Bank. Survivors include her son, Mark W. Amato of Fishkill, NY; and daughter, Susan J. Amato of Newburgh, NY and her life partner, Tim Brown of Wappingers Falls, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Holmes. Nancy was a devoted wife for 58 years. Nancy was a loving caring mother to her children, Susan and Mark. Everyone who knew Nancy loved her. She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She loved to take walks, go to the gym and practice yoga. Nancy loved all her dogs. She loved to travel and shop. Nancy lived life to the fullest. Hopper, Gerald D. "Jerry" of Newburgh, entered into rest Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Fishkill Health Related Facility, Fishkill. He was 71. Son of the late Raymond and Nellie DeWitt Hopper, he was born February 13, 1935 in Newburgh. Gerald operated the Hopper Auto Body Shop along with his brothers, which his father started. Afterwards, he ran the business by himself for 20 years. He loved fishing and his dogs. He is survived by his loving wife, Winifred Hopper, at home; a son, Gerald Raymond Hopper of Michigan; a daughter, Debra Ann Hopper at home; a brother, Robert Hopper of Florida; a sister, Marion Deal of Florida; two grandchildren, Shane Semmens and Dillion Wood; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Daughter of the late William and Helen (Leghorn) Huber, she was born July 23, 1934 in Cornwall, NY. She married the late George M. Vondras on July 1, 1956 in St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. George predeceased Elizabeth in October, 1997. Elizabeth attended St. Patrick's Grammar School, North Junior High School, and was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of '53. She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in the Town of Newburgh, a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and was an avid bowler. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her children, Kimberly E. Vondras of Newburgh, Michael G. Vondras and his wife Josephina of Newburgh, Christian J. Vondras of Newburgh, Mary Elizabeth R. Youngberg and her husband William of Newburgh, Matthew W. Vondras and his wife Maria of Clinton Corners, and Peter A. He retired from Bellsouth after 31 years of service. Don was preceded in death by his son, David. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jimmie Anne; his sisters, Lillian Depuy and May Ryan of Newburgh, NY; his sons, Donald, Michael, Daniel and Steve; his stepsons, Dennis and Michael Cleary; and his granddaughter, Mallory. Annabelle married Joseph Glynn in 1957 and worked at the Marriott "Hot Shoppe" on the New York State Thruway. She retired from Verizon and moved to Naples, FL for the next ten years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe and her parents and two sisters: Maureen Kane and Margaret Glynn. She is survived by six children and their spouses: Joseph Glynn (Nidia) of Houston, TX; Valerie Glynn of Bel Air, MD; Andrea (Dominic) Moresco of Marlboro, NY, with whom she made her home; Christopher (Jennifer) Glynn of Tucson, AZ; Monica (Robert) Gormley of Sparta, NJ; Regina (Michael) Mercer of Beacon, NY; and fifteen grandchildren: Meghan Henson (Bryan) and Lily Moresco; Ryan, Vanessa, Tristan, Emily, Reagan, Julia, Rory Glynn; Allison and Connor Gormley; Stancil Scott and Heather and Jack Healey; Andrew Tomaskovic; two great-grandsons: Tyler and Austin Henson and three nephews: John, Leo and Rory Glynn. Mrs. Abbott was born May 18, 1935 in Philadelphia Pa to the late Edward and Agnes Timothy Kubina. She graduated from the Newburgh Free Academy class of 1953. She was a homemaker and a former employee of the Dupont Company, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Cronomer Valley Fire Co. Mrs. Guastavino was born August 16, 1935 in Newburgh, NY the daughter of the late Wilbur and the late Eliza (Albertson) Lamberson. Bev was employed at both Fishkill and Down State Correctional Facility as an Account Clerk until her retirement from Down State Correctional Facility, Beacon, NY in 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Janine Guastavino of Walden, NY, Sharon McCormick of Plattekill, NY; her granddaughter, Angelina McCormick and future grandson-in-law, Timothy Fill; grandson, William Joseph "Joey" McCormick Jr.; granddaughter, Kyrie McCormick and several nieces and nephews, and many many friends. Richard "Dick" of Newburgh, an employee of the Local 417, a
self-employed Home Improvement Contractor and lifelong resident of the
area, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He
was 65. The son of the late Frank and Alva Sorensen McCullough, he was
born April 25, 1935, in Cornwall. Mr. McCullough served his country in
Korea with the United States Marines. He received many decorations and
citations, including the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal
and the National Defense Service Medal. Survivors include his former
wife, Catherine, of Newburgh; two sons, Richard G. McCullough Jr. and
James P. McCullough and his wife Jamie, all of Newburgh; one daughter,
Patricia A. Stellwag and her husband Christopher of Newburgh; out of 11
brothers and sisters, he is survived by one brother, Frederick
McCullough of New Windsor, and two sisters, Alva Polli of Florida and
Phyliss Linton of Newburgh; two grandchildren, Julia and Sarah
McCullough; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at DiDonato-Brooks

McGrath, Catherine Wagar, formally of Wethersfield, died on January 5, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her son and daughter. She was married to Virgil Wagar for 62 years who preceded her in death. She was born in Newburgh, New York to Mary and Patrick McGrath on November 27, 1921 and graduated from the Benedictine Hospital School of Nursing in Kingston, New York as a registered nurse. She was the nursing supervisor at Wethersfield Manor, which then became Mediplex of Wethersfield. During this time she was also the nursing director of Little Leprechauns Early Care and Education Center in North Haven where she oversaw the care of hundreds of typical children and children with special needs for more than 20 years as well. Her retirement from the Manor afforded she and Virgil the opportunity to travel extensively and enjoy numerous cruises. They enjoyed a surprise trip to Ireland, where she maintained dual citizenship to see her ancestral homeland. She particularly enjoyed sharing with her eldest daughter and her first two grandchildren the stories of her father's native homeland. She shared an oral history of her life with her other two granddaughters and enjoyed reliving her experiences with them. She leaves her eldest daughter, Patricia E. Dotson of North Haven with whom she made her home, her son, Brian V. Wagar (Katherine) of Windsor, her youngest daughter, Catherine A. Lowe who also lived with her and her son-in-law, Everett Dotson. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Janis Dotson of Orange, Eric Dotson (Deanna) of Milford, Sarah Simeone (Christopher) of Windsor Locks, Amy Noel (Scott) of Danbury and Patrick Lowe. She leaves 5 great grand children and three nieces. She also leaves several special people in her life, Cindy, Patti, Paul, and her favorite furry friend, Peppy. The family would like to thank Patrick Gagnon, APRN for his caring and concern, Dr. Santo Buccheri for his superb insight and expertise and his many years of caring and attention to our family, he is truly without equal and to Dr. John Rogers for helping to make her last days comfortable. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph's RC Church in the Poquonock section of Windsor, Burial will be at the convenience of the family. McMillen, Miner F. fondly known as "Mac" to all his friends and family and formerly of New Windsor, NY and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY. He was 77 years old. The son of the late Luther D. and Anne (Martin) McMillen, Mac was born on December 2, 1935 at West Point, NY. Mac was predeceased by his lovely wife, Ann Marie (Simek) McMillen. He is survived by his son, David and his wife, Kimberley Galuska of Tuxedo Park, NY; one daughter, Suzanne Cecchi and her husband, Marco of Hoboken, NJ; three sisters: Betty Ann Lauber, Doris Johnston and Cathy Paul; one brother, Luther D. McMillen III; six grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler, Sara, Olivia, Luciano and Ryan Galuska; one great-grandchild, Hayes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mac owned and operated McMillen and Son Auto Radiator Service in Newburgh for 50 years. Mac was a Freemason and a member of Hudson River Lodge in Newburgh and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was also a member of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Mac was also a Make-a-Wish Foundation member and volunteered many hours of tireless service to a cause he truly loved. Mac's military background included six years with the National Guard and United States Army Reserve as an artilleryman, as well as several years volunteering in the New York State Guard. He was awarded the Defense of Liberty Medal by the State of New York for his participation in the 911 recovery operations. Mac was also a member of American Legion Post 1796 in New Windsor, NY and Post 178 in Murrells Inlet, SC. Mac was a highly skilled drummer and a member of several local bagpipe bands including the MacLeods of Cornwall, The Amerscot Highland Pipe Band in Saugerties, NY and the the Monaghan Society Pipes and Drums in the Bronx. In 1973, along with the late Sgt. Major Neil (Jack) Harris, his son, David and Fred Howard of the MacLeods, he was instrumental in assisting the United States Military Academy to establish its first bagpipe band, the USMA Pipes and Drums. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph's Church in New Windsor at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th, followed immediately by Internment of Ashes at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall, NY. Merritt, Roger E. of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Cornwall on Hudson, NY, passed away on March 22, 2014 after a long illness. The son of the late Emmett P. Merritt and Marjorie Corwin Merritt, he was born February 23, 1935 in Cornwall, NY. He was a Newburgh Free Academy and Cornell University graduate. After college he served in the U.S. Army. He was a teacher for the Newburgh School System for 29 years. We will remember him as a loving husband, devoted son, caring brother and the world's best dad. He was a quiet man who enjoyed gardening, classical music, wood carving, the great outdoors but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Thomas Merritt of Las Vegas; his son, James R. Merritt and his wife, Kerry of Cornwall on Hudson, NY; his daughter, Susan P. Merritt and her husband, Edward Shinn of Las Vegas, NV; his son, Peter J. Merritt and his wife, Cheryl of North Kingstown, RI; grandsons, JD, Shane, Hayden and Colin Merritt. He is also survived by his brother, Thurl Merritt of Newburgh, NY; his sister, Pamela Donato and her husband, Carmen of Cornwall, NY; several nieces and nephews. Miller, Jacklyn M. Beekman, a proud lifelong resident of Newburgh,
passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2012 surrounded by the love
of family and friends in her adopted home of Redondo Beach, California.
She was 77 years old. A loving mother, devoted grandmother, and loyal
friend, Jackie was born on February 1, 1935 to the late Judson D. and
Elsie Miller. She was a 30-year employee of St. Luke's Hospital in
Newburgh, where she worked in various capacities as a ward clerk,
pharmacy clerk, transportation aide, and "the mail lady". Jackie will no
doubt be remembered by many for her kind and friendly disposition, a
beautiful smile, and her mellifluous singing voice. Jackie is survived
by her daughter, Mari-Anne Kehler and her husband, Eddie of Redondo
Beach, CA; her daughter, Tamera Collins and her husband, Lincoln of
Versailles, KY; her son, John Beekman and his wife, Anne Marie of Walker
Valley, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Liam Kehler and Amelia Collins;
and her sister-in-law, Bertha (Babe) Miller of Newburgh. She was

Mitchell, Jean M. Smith of Milton, NY passed away October 22, 2014 at Wingate of Ulster. She was born in Newburgh, NY on December 5, 1935, the daughter of Tom and Anna A. Mitchell. Jean worked for the New York Telephone Co. Prior to getting married, Jean worked as assistant kitchen aid in the Milton Elementary school. Jean was a committee member for Troop 73 Boy Scouts of America for years and volunteered with her late husband, Charles J. Smith, Jr. at Camp Tri-Mount in East Jewit, NY. Jean and her husband were life time campers and hikers from New York to Maine. Jean is survived by daughters: Deborah Gilliland and Kim A. Brooks and sons: Charles T. Smith III, Wayne M. Roche, Leonard S. Jr. - 71, of South Windsor, died, Saturday (May 5, 2007) at Hartford Hospital. He loved his family, books, movies and a good, funny story. He was a student of the game of baseball and an avid Yankees fan. He played American Legion baseball in high school and was on an Air Force team while in the service. He was a graduate of University of Maryland in Aeronautical Engineering and the University of Connecticut business school and was a dedicated worker at Pratt & Whitney from 1961 to 1992. He leaves his wife of fifty years Jane, his son Kevin Roche of Lowell, MA and his daughter Meredith Glaser, her husband Jeff, and granddaughters Meryl and Haille of Gloucester, MA. He was a private, quiet man with a glint in the eye, a wicked sense of humor, and incredible sweetness who hardly ever missed saying to his family that he loved them. Schaffer, Dolores B. Ferguson, of New Windsor, a retired loan clerk for Albany Savings Bank and a life-long resident of the area, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993, in Cornwall Hospital. She was 58. The daughter of the late Stanford and Catherine Dourney Shaffer, she was born July 23, 1935, in Newburgh. Survivors include her husband, Donald Ferguson, at home, one daughter Melanie Ferguson at home; and several aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Newburgh. Services were held Thursday morning at the funeral home. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
Scott, Edward R. of Campbell Hall and formerly of Newburgh, NY entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2015 at Campbell Hall. He was 81 years old. The son of George H. Scott and Ella Schreeder Scott, Edward R. Scott was born on January 2, 1934 in Newburgh NY. Edward R. Scott honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army serving 1954-1956. Edward was a retired truck driver for Costa beverage in Newburgh NY. A family statement reads: "He will be missed greatly". Edward R. Scott is survived by his son, George E. Scott of Richmond VA; daughter, Terri Paquette and husband, John of Wallkill, NY; also several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Joseph and Stancil Scott and sister, Christina Easterling. Visitation will be private at Quigley Bros. Sept. 12, 2000, in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. The daughter of Joseph
and Goldie Schwartz Silber, she was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Newburgh. She
was a member of Hadassah of Newburgh; B'nai B'rith of Newburgh; and
Temple Beth Jacob. Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Fudin, at
home; two sons, Terry Fudin of Monroe, Conn. and Jeffrey Fudin of
Delmar; one daughter, Deborah Radowitz of Newburgh; one sister, Geane
Weisman of the state of Florida; eight grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday,
Sept. 14, at Temple Beth Jacob, Newburgh. Burial will be in Temple Beth
Jacob Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home,

Sisco, Beverly Jean Foster of Inglis, Fla., died Monday, August 27, 2007 in Inverness, Fla. She was 71. She was born January 1, 1936 in Cornwall. She moved to Florida in 1999 from Middletown, N.Y. Beverly was a bookkeeper for various companies, a real estate sales agent, and a professional photographer who, along with her husband, owned and operated Foster's Racing Photos, Middletown, N.Y. from 1985-1998. She was a member of the Inglis-Yankeetown Women's Club and served as a past treasurer, secretary and volunteer. She was also a past member of the Middletown Lions Club and was an auto racing enthusiast. She is survived by: son, Chris A. Foster (Donna M.), of Middletown; daughter, Deborah Mintz (Steve), of Ocala, Fla.; three sisters: Betty Atwood and Fran Ebneter, both of Inglis, Fla., and Evelyn Sisco; five grandchildren: Jamie Parrish of Bremerton, Wash.; James Mintz of Anaheim, Calif., Trevor Mintz of Corona, Calif., Kalie Foster and Christian Foster, both of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Burton Foster in 1998. Funeral services and cremation were under the care of Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon, Fla. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 21 at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 W. Main St., Middletown, at 7 p.m. following the visitation from 5-7 p.m.

Smith, Francis J. "Elwood" of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Wingate at Beacon. He was 71. Son of Margaret Schaffer Smith and the late Frank E. Smith, he was born on August 16, 1935 in Newburgh. "Frank was a loving son, brother and uncle. He will be truly missed by all of us who sat for hours listening to him tell his stories. His vast knowledge of movies and music made him our "Trivia Master". We'll also miss his wonderful pies and cakes he made from scratch, but most of all we'll miss his wit and laughter." Frank proudly served in the New York Army National Guard as a Sergeant. He worked as a pressman at Moore Print Shop, Joseph Sigfreid Press, and retired from the Walden Printing Co. in 1994. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Smith; sisters, Alice Truex and her husband, Richard of Virginia Beach, Va., and Doris Brown of Newburgh; brother-in-law, Richard Maher of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marguerite Reilly and her husband, John of Newburgh and Joan Maher of Virginia; and brother-in-law, Harry E. Brown of Newburgh. The daughter of the late Paul Vitola and the late Edith Lease, she was born May 3, 1935, Brooklyn, NY. She is the wife of John Long, who predeceased her September 16, 2004. She is the owner of Vortek International, Corp., Newburgh, NY. St. Dolores was dedicated contributor to the St. Jude's Foundation, the National AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Humane Society, as well as locally for the Town of Newburgh, and numerous other environmental and wildlife organizations. Survivors include her son, David Vitalli of the Town of Newburgh, NY; daughter, Debbie Hall of the Town of Newburgh, NY; one granddaughter, Aubrey Hall, and, one great-grandson, Daniel Anthony Beck. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, William C. Covert, IV on May 20, 1993. Williams, Lawrence - of Chambers Street, Newburgh, a music teacher for 11 years at John Jay High School, Tn. of Wappingers, and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, July 24, 1985 at the Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, after along illness. He was 49. The son of the late Junius L. and Clydia Rice Williams, he was born on Oct. 2, 1935, in Roseton. Mr. Williams was a member of the A.M.E. Zion Church, Newburgh and the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Newburgh. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the New York State United Teachers. A musician, Mr. Williams received his master's degree in music from New York University, and was a church pianist at several churches in the area, including: St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Beacon, the Second Baptist Church, Littletown, St. John's Baptist Church, Highland Falls, St. Paul's A.M.E. Zion Church, Ellenville and the A.M.E. Zion Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church both in Newburgh. Survivors include seven brothers, Elmer Williams of Beacon, Alfred Williams of Detroit Mich., Maurice Williams of Silver Spring MD., James Williams of Sunnymead, Calif., Otto Williams of Poughkeepsie, Thomas Williams of Newburgh, and the Rev. John Arthur Williams of Hyattsville, MD and several nieces and nephews.
