Barry, John E. "Jack" of Newburgh, NY... Jack passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2008, surrounded by family and close friends at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Jack was a lifelong Newburgh resident, graduating from St. Patrick's Grammar School in 1945 and NFA in 1949. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps - Semper Fi! He was born September 30, 1931, son of John E. and Margaret O'Connor Barry. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. of Middletown, NY, and Jeanine M. (Bob) Henderson of Beacon, NY; his former wife, Elizabeth F.; one sister, Frances of Newburgh, and several cousins. Jack retired from Texaco Research Center in Glenham, NY. He was a devout Catholic and drew comfort and peace from his faith. He was a member of the Winona Lake Engine Co. and their fire police. He was an EMT, life member and past vice-president of the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was a great father and family man, a wonderful brother and a faithful friend to the many people who knew him. He was a voracious reader, gathering knowledge from the many subjects that interested him. There will be no viewing as his body was willed to Medical Science. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh, NY, on Saturday, June 14, at 9:30 a.m. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Town of Newburgh Ambulance Corps Building on Route 52, Town of Newburgh, NY from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence or the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corps in his name.
Bell, Kenneth L. of The Villages, Florida, entered into eternal rest on
September 12, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages. He was 82
years old. He was the son of the late William A. and Edna (Purdy) Bell.
He was born on July 2, 1931 in Newburgh, New York and attended local
schools. He was a 1956 graduate of Orange County Community College and
Krissler Business School. He had a fond appreciation of music and
enjoyed playing piano in the lobby of the Villages Hospital two times a
week. He was a Civil War buff, and enjoyed reading Westerns and sharing
the stories with others. He was a Consistory member and longtime member
of Meadow Hill Church in Newburgh, the Amphion Glee Club, and present
member of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Florida. He
leaves his wife Christine (Brannack) of 58 years, sons Andrew, and
Clifford and wife Marie, daughter, Linda and husband Frank Zazzi;
grandchildren Daniel and Nicholas Zazzi, Nicole and husband Michael
Ortiz, Kirsten, Mitchell and Dana Bell, brothers Wilfred Bell and wife
Bette of Marlborough, Ralph and wife Jeanne of Newburgh, nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Marion Foster,
brother Edwin, and nephew Kent Foster, and grandson Stephen Zazzi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16 from 6 to 8 pm at Brooks
Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral Service will be held
on Tuesday, September 17 at 11 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will
follow at Cedar Hill cemetery in Newburgh. In lieu of flowers the family

Belsito, Ralph Frank
80, died peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2012, in St. Augustine, Fla., at
the Bailey Center Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 15,
1931, in Newburgh, N.Y., son of the late Paul and Helen Gardner Belsito
of Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of the American Legion and a proud
veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his son, Ralph Belsito Jr.,
and family; daughter, Felicia and her husband James White; two
grandchildren, Kimberly Vincent and John Northrup; great-grandchildren,
Sean and Jessica Northrup, Jacquelyn, Randall, Faith, and Seth; a
great-great-grandson, Liam; his sister, Fay Denike, New Windsor, N.Y.;
brother, Walter Belsito of Waterbury, Conn.; nephew and nieces. He was
predeceased by sisters, Doris Mastrella and Lillian Weeden and brothers,
Paul and Donald Belsito. His homecoming will be 10 a.m. Monday, March
19, 2012, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road,

Bernhardt, Pauline M. Neubert, Age 83, of Lake Worth, Fl passed away
Jan. 15, 2015. Pauline was born February 22, 1931. She was a good wife,
mother and a loyal friend to many. She loved to work on many different
crafts from needlepoint to ceramics. Pauline lived in Lake Worth Florida
and would take a long walk to the beach with a friend. She enjoyed the
wonder of life and the world around her. Pauline will be greatly missed
by her family and friends. Services were held at All County Funeral Home
& Crematory, Lake Worth, FL.
Biengardo, Frank 80, of Hudson, FL, formerly of Newburgh, passed away on
Thursday, September 9, 2011. He was a Coast Guard Veteran and lifetime
member of International Labors Union Local 17. He is survived by his
wife of 63 years, Carmella Visconti Biengardo; 3 sons: Frank, Andrew,
and Joseph; 4 grandchildren: Andrew, Nicholas, Lauren, and Joey; a
brother, Andrew; and two sisters, Theresa and Mary. A Memorial Mass will

Briscoe, Raymond A. II of the Town of Newburgh and Lakeland, Florida, a retired Industrial Plumber entered into eternal rest on Oct 28, 2014 at the Oakbridge Healthcare Center Lakeland, Florida. He was 84. The son of the late Raymond A. and Mable Briscoe, Raymond was born December 19, 1929 in Brooklyn. He was an US Army Veteran in the 1812 CO H 34TH REGT 24TH Division and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer member of the Cronomer Valley Fire Dept. and had been member of the plumbers union for over 50 years. He leaves behind 3 children; Raymond A Briscoe III, James E. Briscoe, Nancy Jean Mann; eight grandchildren, and twenty three great-grandchildren. Raymond was predeceased by wife, Phyllis of 59 years and son, Gary. Brown, James
V. of the Town of Newburgh, entered into eternal rest on
Monday, September 8, 2008 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He
was 76. Son of the late Roy and Helen Brown, he was born October 1,
1931. He was married to Irene Vesely Brown for 54 years, who predeceased
him on March 3, 2008. James was a retired supervisor for Central Hudson
Gas & Electric Corp. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from
1948-1952 during the Korean War. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army
Reserve and retired from the 854th Engineer Battalion (Cbt)(Hv) as the
Command Sergeant Major after 27 years of service. He was awarded the
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, Korean
Service Medal with four bronze stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO
Development, Army Service Ribbon, United Nations Medal, Republic of
Korea War Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Award and the
Meritorious Unit Award. He was past Commander of VFW Post #973, past
Exalted Ruler of Newburgh Elks #247, member of American Legion Post 152
in Newburgh and President and Business Manager of Local 2218 of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is survived by his
three loving daughters, Susan Rockafellow and her husband, Michael of
Newburgh, Cynthia Lombard and her husband, Robert of Pennsylvania, and
Barbara Stacchini of Newburgh; grandchildren, Scott Lombard and his
wife, Amanda of Yonkers, Craig Lombard of New York City, Justin and
Stacia Rockafellow, Carmine and Marcus Stacchini all of Newburgh, and
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marian
Donahue and brothers, William F., Charles F. and Roy S. Brown.

Catania, Dr. Francis "Frank" L. of Newburgh, well-known and loved
area dentist and lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest
Saturday, August 5, 2006 at home with his loving family by his side. He
was 74. Son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Dinino Catania, he was
born April 8, 1932 in Newburgh. Frank attended Maryknoll Seminary before
attending and graduating from St. Bonaventure University and earning his
Doctorate at Georgetown University Dental School. He was a parishioner
of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh, a member of Oblate Mission Club,
American Red Cross, Powelton Club, Board of Governor's 9th District
Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He is survived by
his devoted wife, Serafina Porco Catania, at home; his loving children,
Christopher Catania of Newburgh, Debra Zambito and her husband, James of
Newburgh, Denise Cantor and her husband, Robert of Westport, Conn.,
Francis Catania of New York City, N.Y. and Steven Catania and his wife,
Deana of New Windsor; loving sister, Blanche Miller of Florida;
cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Chiara, Christopher, Nick, Christie,
Julia, Chad, Michael and Marco; several nieces and nephews; and many
friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Leo Catania. The family will

Clegg, Alfred A. 76 of Richfield Springs, NY passed away Sunday,
September 7, 2008 at his home. He was born November 7, 1931 in Newburgh
NY. He was a long time employee of Wayne Olds Cadillac of Newburgh. He
is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claire, Laurel, and Scott Wheeler
and Lorraine and Al Findlay; two grandchildren: Deverie and Garrett
Martens and two great-grandchildren. There will be no public services.

William H. of the Town of Newburgh, N. Y. a retired employee of IBM
Corporation in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill and lifetime area resident,
entered into rest on Friday, January 18, 2002 at home. He was 70. Son of
the late Van Lone and Anna VanAmburgh Conner Sr., he was born May 18,
1931 in Newburgh. Mr. Conner attended Newburgh schools and was a 1949
graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He proudly served his country in the
U.S. Navy in Korea; he was a member of Good-Will Fire Dept. for 49
years, was a Benevolent Assn. Charter member, a life member of Orange
County Volunteer Fireman's Assn., a member of Hudson Valley Volunteer
Fireman's Assn, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the local Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his nephew, John Conner and his wife Susan and their
children, Amy and Stacy of Newburgh; and his niece, Debra Conner of
Whiteville, N.C.; also an aunt and uncle; and cousins. He was
predeceased by two brothers, Van L. Jr. and George Conner. Family will
receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, January 21,
at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A funeral
service will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22 in the funeral

Dougan, James Gordon "Doug" of Beacon, N.Y., and formerly of New Windsor, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 75. The son of Arthur Dougan and Marie Faitak Dougan, he was born March 27, 1931 in Cornwall. He was married to Gloria Joan Eisloefel Dougan, whom were married for 53 years. Gordon was a retired owner of Smith Shoe Store on Broadway in Newburgh. He was a Past President of New Windsor Little League in New Windsor American Legion Post 1796, New Windsor. Gordon proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1950-53. A Family Statement reads: "Gordie will be fondly remembered as "Santa Claus" to thousands of children of all ages. He was truly a loving family man who found tremendous pleasure in his grandchildren's biggest fan! To his children he will always be their hero and forever have a special place in their heart. "We love you Pop and Dad. Also we acknowledge with thanks the nurses and doctors at St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room. Survivors include three daughters: Gloria Flanagan and her husband, John of Cornwall, Cynthia Dougan of Beacon, N.Y., and Nancy Tancredi and her husband, Michael of Beacon, N.Y.; sons, James G. Gordy was one in a million. He was president of the New Windsor Little
League for 5 years. He was loved by all, kids and adults alike. It's
unfortunate there will be no viewing since there are hundreds of people,
including the kids that played during his terms as President, that would
have liked to pay their respect to this great man. Gordy, we're going to
miss you.
Ehrhart, John Donald Sr. age 80, of Little Egg Harbor, formerly of Ramsey, died on April 6th 2011 in Fort Pierce, FL, following a valiant battle with multiple myeloma. Survived by his beloved wife Ann of 52 years. Devoted father of John Jr. and wife Dawn of New Milford, Eric and wife Nicole of Fair Lawn, Elizabeth (Betsy) Dowd, Brian of Little Egg Harbor and David of Delray Beach, FL. Cherished grandfather to Allison Ehrhart, Martine & Adam Ehrhart and Jenna & Tyler Dowd. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 1505 in Somers, NY. He attended Lafayette College and graduated from Pace College. He received his MBA from Pace University. He retired from IBM in 1990 after 30 years of service and then worked for NCR Corp. until 1998. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being a rules official with the NJ Golf Association. He was a former member of the Ramsey Golf & Country Club and at one time served on their Board of Directors. More recently he enjoyed his volunteer work at the Tuckerton Seaport. He was also a serious book reader. He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Tuckerton. Graveside services will be held at Grace Church in Nyack, NY at a later date. Etri, Patrick "Pat" M. Sr. of the Town of Newburgh, a self-employed hair stylist and lifelong resident of the area, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1995 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 64. The son of Rocco and Mildred Napolitano Campilli, he was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Newburgh. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. Survivors include his parents of the Town of Newburgh; his wife, Rose Rhoda Etri, at home; three sons, Patrick Etri, Jr. of Middletown, Mark Etri, of New Windsor and Dr. Dean Etri of Staten Island; one brother John Etri of Newburgh; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Evans, Eugene E. "Gene" 77, a seasonal resident of Naples, FL and resident of Troy and Cossayuna Lake, NY, entered into eternal life of Tuesday, January 27, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Cornwall, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Frances Wood Evans and the beloved husband of the late Virginia Evans. Mr. Evans was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, U.S. Navy Corpsman School and licensed as a NY State Nursing Home Administrator. Veteran of the Koran Conflict and Vietnam War. Eugene served with the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions, Fleet Marine Force; Naval Hospitals Newport, RI, Yokosuka, Japan and Portsmouth, NH, as well as a USS Yosemite (AD19), USS Hammerberg (DE1015) and USS Cascade (AD16). He finished his Naval career at Naval Station Brooklyn. He was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. Upon retirement from the Navy, he became the Administrator for the Eden Park Nursing Home of Troy before retiring again in 1985. Gene loved to golf, travel and enjoyed his trips to Hawaii, Europe and Spain. He especially loved the time spent with family and friends at his summer residence at Cossayuna Lake. He was a member of the Cossayuna Volunteer Fire Department, NYS Fire Police Association, American Legion, VFW and Fleet Reserve Association. He was also past president of the Elks Lodge, Brunswick, NY where he was also a member of their bowling league. Gene is survived by his children, Raymond (Suzanne) Evans, Donna (Nick) Rocchio, Nancy Stahlecker, William Evans, Mona Jean (Shawn) Bergeron, the late Arthur Evans, Mark (Brenda) Paul, David (Cathy) Paul, Bruce (Nancy) Paul, Robert (Judi) Paul, Pamela (Jeffrey) McCumber and Edward Van Leuven. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Cossayuna, NY at a later date. Everitt, Gerald A. of Wallkill, NY passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital. He was 80. The son of the late Lawrence S. and Edna C. Foster Everitt, Gerald was born January 16, 1931 in Newburgh, NY. He was a member of the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1954. He is survived by one son, Glenn Everitt and his wife, Cathleen of Long Island; one daughter, Sharon VanWart and her companion, Giles Purvis of Walden, NY; one sister, Nancy Richards and her husband, Lawrence of Austin, TX; six grandchildren: Brandon Everitt of the U.S. Air Force serving in Iraq, Melaine Everitt, Dakota Everitt of Long Island, Christopher Everitt of Florida, Justin VanWart of Cornwall, Ryan VanWart of the U.S. Coast Guard and his wife, Ayako of Staten Island; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Fasciano, Robert Michael 73, Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. passed away December 5, 2004 after a courageous 14-year battle with brain tumors. He was born to Nickola and Mary Fasciano in Newburgh on November 18, 1931. He graduated Newburgh Free Academy Class of 1949 and graduated State University of New York at Utica in 1951. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed at Scofield Military Base in Hawaii and was discharged April 21, 1956. He returned to New York and started a brilliant 33-year career with IBM. He retired from IBM in April 1989 and moved to Surprise, Arizona in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Arlene; two daughters, Lauren and Lynn; son, Dean and his beloved daughter-in-law, Yvonne; two grandsons, Robert Dean and Nico; and his brother, Alfred. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara; his children, Ralph Ferraiolo and his fiancee, Leeann Michaels, and David Ferraiolo and his wife, Hildy, all of Leesburg, Va., Frank Ferraiolo and his wife, Daryl of Essex Junction, Vt., Christopher Ferraiolo and his wife, Eileen of Westford, Mass. and Janet Ferraiolo of Marin County, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. A daughter of the late Samuel Filligran and the late Grace Miller, she was born July 23, 1931 in Newburgh, N.Y. Katherine was an Insurance Adjustor at Hartford & Exchange Insurance. Survivors include her husband, Anthony Andrulewicz at home; one daughter, Rebecca Ban of Newburgh; two sisters, Ellen Bayer and Sylvia Forbes, both of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Tibor Ban III and Fallon-Grace Ban, both of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Foster, William "Boogie" H. Jr., of Newburgh, former employee for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, and lifetime area resident, entered into rest Sunday, March 21, 2004, at home. He was 72. Son of the late William H. and Laura Wood Foster, he was born February 27, 1932 in Newburgh. Bill was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Newburgh, and The Newburgh Fast Pitch Hall of Fame-1999. A family statement read, "He was a good, hard-working, strong man who truly loved life and enjoyed every minute of it until his disease no longer allowed him. He was a good husband, dad and Pa-Pa. He will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed". Griffin, Virginia L. Murphy a retired Registered Nurse and lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest Thursday, August 24, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. She was 74. Daughter of the late William B. and Florence Eaton Griffin, she was born August 30, 1931 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Gerald T. Murphy. Virginia graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, Class of '49. She continued her education and became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Kingston Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at both Kingston Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital. Virginia's motto was "I pass through this life but once. Any kindness I can do, let me do it now because I'll only pass through this way once." She loved birds and all animals. She is survived and sadly missed by her children, Geralyn Cunningham, David Murphy and Jerry Murphy, all of Town of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Peter W. Cunningham II of New Windsor and Kelly M. Cunningham of Town of Newburgh; one great-grandchild, Jenna M. Cunningham of Town of Newburgh; her brother, Oliver J. Igo, Jean Welsh a longtime resident of Grosse Ile, MI, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday March 22, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 11, 1932 in Newburgh NY she was the daughter of James and Genevieve (Meany) Igo. Jean was the loving wife of William J. Welsh who preceded her in death on September 29, 1967. Although Jean's life revolved around her nine children, she pursued and attained her own goals in life. Jean obtained a Bachelor's degree from St. Elizabeth. During her college years, Jean was a lifeguard at West Point Academy, NY. Not only did Jean raise nine children, but along the way became an elementary school teacher, an author and newspaper writer, an RN and a volunteer for numberous organizations, but was most devoted to Hospice. She will be dearly missed by all of her children family and a host of loving friends. Lockwood, Edward J. "Ted" 79, of Avon Park, Fla., passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at his home with loved ones by his side. Ted' s passing follows a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, with whom they shared interests, friendships, worship and a very deep love. Also surviving are his sons, Jeff of Wallkill, N.Y., and Greg of Hershey Pa., five adult stepchildren, Laura, Holly, Cindy, Lisa and Bill; four grandchildren, Brad, Kathleen, Heather and Rhianna; and one great-grandchild. He will be missed. As a tavern owner of 32 years by profession, he carried on the family tradition, which was started by his father, "EJ" the year prohibition ended. With his wonderful wife, Barbara, Ted retired and moved to Sebring, Fla., in 1987. She succumbed to cancer in 1998. Born March 7, 1931, in Newburgh, N.Y., Ted made his home there and was an integral part of that community before retiring to Florida. Ted served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was an active member in the Masonic Lodge, Elks, and Moose organizations. As an avid sport enthusiast, Ted coached championship youth baseball and adult softball teams, was an accomplished bowler, and proudly displayed athleticism with any sport. Ted was an active and important part of Emmanuel United Church of Christ congregation in Sebring, Fla. He will be missed by his many friends, "willing workers", and ministry. As an avid woodworker, Ted set his mark with creative works that will memorialize his love to many, especially in the church. Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 3115 Hope St., Sebring, FL 33875. McDougall, Ann I am sad to announce that Annie Savage McDougall Welch my best friend and mother passed away Friday, May 2, 2008. Mom was 76. Mom was born October 22, 1931 in Newburgh, NY, to Donald McDougall and Jean Savage. Mom attended NFA in Newburgh, NY where she graduated salautorian of her class in 1949. Mom went on to Albany Teachers College (now SUNY Albany) and graduated with a degree in Both Math and chemistry. While working as a mathematician for Daystrom Electric Corp. in Poughkeepsie, mom met my father Jerome W. Welch they married on April 20, 1957. Though they divorced, mom and dad remained friendly. Mom later became a High School Teacher at Pawling High. She earned her Masters degree and then became head of the Math Department at Pawling High and was Math League Coach for the school. After retiring in 1994, Mom became a professor for SUNY in New Paltz. Mom and I traveled extensively in her later years and we saw many new and exciting places together. Mom was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Fall, NY. She made many friends and served on many committees over the years. Mom was loved and respected by many. The planet has lost a fine lady and is better for her being a part of it. Mom was a great teacher in school and in life. I learned a lot from her as did many others. Mom, we will miss you Annie Savage McDougall Welch was predeceased by both her parents and her long time beau, Karl (Khalil) Daghir. Mom is survived by her only daughter, Donna Jean Welch; her two stepdaughters, Cathy Daghir Allen her husband, Jim and two children, Justin and Chelsea, Sue Panettieri her husband, Dean their children, Michael, Jessica, and Nicholas, and Dean's mom, Jenny. Millman, Walter S. 75, of New Windsor, died Saturday, November 10, 2007,
at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 23, 1932 in
Boston, Mass., he was the only child of Dr. Beatrice Magid and Morris
Millman. From Project Head Start in the 1960's to the Magnet School
Program in the 1980's, he spent a lifetime championing national and
local efforts to promote diversity and innovation in the public schools
as a teacher, principal and associate superintendent in the Newburgh
City School District. An avid sailor and passionate outdoorsman, he was
an active board member of the Black Rock Forest Consortium. He was also
a member of the Newburgh Board of Education, and served on the boards of
the Association of Gifted and Talented Educators, the National Magnet
Schools of America, the Newburgh Community Action Committee and the
Newburgh YMCA. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne; his children:
David, Michael and Rebecca; and grandchildren, Sophia and Henry. He
challenged and inspired many children, teachers, and colleagues and will
be fondly remembered by them all. Services will be private, and a

Newburgh, NY died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Harris Regional Hospital
after a period of declining health. The daughter of the late Sam and
Rose P. Morello, she was born in Newburgh, NY, and had lived in Jackson
County for the past 12 years. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She lived life to its
fullest, and her grandchildren were her life. She was a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church, and had worked at Western Carolina University in
food service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, James Richard Lanspery, Sr. She is survived by her two
daughters, Rosemary Lanspery and Jamie Lanspery, both of Sylva; son,
James R. Lanspery Jr. of Naples, FL; two sisters, Fran Camporeale of

Munger, Christopher "Chris" Benedict of the Town of Newburgh, a retired manager for Verizon and lifetime area resident, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015. He was 83 years old. Son of the late Benedict and Margaret (Bardin) Munger, he was born October 8, 1931 in Newburgh. Chris proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. Chris was an umpire for the USAA Slow Pitch Girls Softball, a Mid Hudson Volleyball Official, Mid Hudson Swimming Official, NYS Certified Official of Track, Field and Cross Country, was an Official at the Empire State Games Track and Field for several years, served as a Volunteer Official for the Special Olympics, and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2011. Chris loved his family unconditionally. Leading by example, he met all of life's challenges head on. He was always there to support and encourage us to be the best that we could be. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren supporting their many activities. We lost our strongest, loving supporter. The daughter of the late Rose and Ralph Napolitano, she was born February 13, 1932 in Newburgh, NY. Jean was a married to Peter Zeferfino Petrillo, Jr. for 59 years. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters and the Sacred Heart League. Pace, Michael "Mickey" Dominick Jr. of New Paltz died peacefully at home
on December 11, 2014. He was 83 years old. Son of the late Celestino and
Mary (Grieco) Pace, Mickey was born in the Bronx, NY on June 18, 1931.
Mickey was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in New Paltz. He
worked as a Supervisor at Centichem, in Tuxedo, NY. He acted as
Secretary of the Newburgh Baseball Hall of Fame, and he was also a proud
member of the Newburgh National Guard. Mickey will be dearly missed, but
fondly remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather. He had a
great aura about him that just made you want to be near him. Mickey is
survived by his wife of 50 years, Nettie Souppa; three children: Michael

Pacione, Anthony R. Sr. a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest on Friday, September 18, 2009 with his loving family by his side. He was 78. Son of the late Tobio and Carina Bernardinelli Pacione, he was born July 5, 1931 in Newburgh. He married Sylvia Gomboy Pacione on January 22, 1949 in St. Patrick's Church; who survives at home. Anthony was a 1949 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy; a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, where he served as an alter boy; and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Together with his family, Anthony operated Rocco Handbag in Newburgh, and later was Superintendent of Building and Grounds at Mount St. Mary College and Storm King School. Pop was the heart of the Pacione family. His wife Sylvia was the love of his life who, together celebrated 60 years of marriage this past January. His sense of humor and appreciation toward life brought us much joy and happiness. Through his story telling, we have learned much about hard work and family values. He will always be a true inspiration to his entire family and will be greatly missed. The son of the late Harold A. and Mary (Leghorn) Porath, Sr., Harold was born on January 4, 1932 in Newburgh, NY. He was married to Vera Colantuno in May 1955 in Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walden, NY. Harold was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy in 1949. He worked as a supervisor at International Brands Corp. for many years. Harold served his country from 1951 to 1955 with the U.S Air Force. During the Korean War, he flew numerous combat bombing missions over North Korea as a waist gunner on a B-29 Superfortress. “It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of our beloved Harold, a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Prokosch, Regina "Jean" Morrill of Newburgh, a retired Bookkeeper for Commercial Offset Printers and lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Friday, December 1, 2006 in Fishkill Health Related Center, Fishkill. She was 75. Daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Althiser Prokosch, she was born October 13, 1931 in Newburgh. She married her beloved husband, George on September 1, 1950 in St. George's Church, Newburgh. George survives at home. Jean was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of '49. She was a parishioner of St. George's Episcopal Church in Newburgh, a member of Scotts Corner Golf League, and a friend to all four-legged cats and dogs. In addition to her husband, George, Jean is survived by two daughters, Pamela A. Morrill of Newburgh and Lori Brinkman and her husband, Bruce of Catasaqua, Pa.; her granddaughter, Gina Brinkman; her sister-in-law, Janet Morrill; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, James Morrill. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 4, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. Engineering Co., died Friday, December 12, 2002 at home. He was 71. The
son of the late Arthur Quick and Violet Bradley, he was born August 26,
1931 in New Windsor. He was a graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marines
Academy Class of 1954. He was the widower of Nancy Doulin Quick. He is
survived by on son, Jarett Quick of New Port Richey, Fla.; and one
daughter, Lisa May of Concord, New Hampshire; three grandchildren; one
brother, George Quick of Jarrettville, Md.; as well as several nieces
and nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, December 10

Posted by Cassandra Quicksell-Hopwood 63 Robert "Bob" Donald Quicksell, of the town of Newburgh, a retired staff sergeant with B Battery 156-FA of the U.S. Army National Guard and retired engineer for the City of Newburgh, and a lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, Feb. 15,1996 at home. He was 66. The son of the late Ellis B. and Florence Holmes Quicksell, he was born Oct.13, 1929, in Newburgh. He was a member of Local 917 of the Civil Service Employees Ass; the Judson P. Galloway American Legion Post 152, Newburgh; & the Town of Newburgh Recreation Department. He was a 26-member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 969, Town of Newburgh; a 1949 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy; and a liflong member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic church, Newburgh. Survivors include his wife Helen M. LaPoma Quicksell, at home; two daughters, Linda M. Sarvis, Marion B. Randall of New Windsor, entered into rest on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 78. Daughter of Anna Kuprych Sarvis and the late George M. Sarvis, Sr., she was born on March 26, 1931 in Newburgh. She married Louis D. Randall on October 7, 1961 in St. Mary's Church, Newburgh. He predeceased her on June 30, 2006. Marion was courageous and caring with a deep love for God, family and friends. Her tireless sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. She attended both St. Mary's and St. Francis Churches in Newburgh, and was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. She is survived by her brothers: George Sarvis, Jr. and his wife, Caroline of Newburgh, Stephen Sarvis and his wife, Julia of Newburgh, and William Sarvis and his wife, Nancy of New Windsor; sister, Ellen Lander and her husband, Ronald of Wallkill; 16 nieces and nephews and many friends. Scalzo, Rosemarie DeFrancesco, 83, of Fayetteville, GA passed away March 21, 2014 at Southwest Christian Care in Union City, GA. She was a retired AT&T employee and worked in the Accounting Department in White Plains, NY. She was a member of Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. After high school Joe worked with MH Fishman stores and later retired from Mason’s Dept. store as a district manager after 25 years of service . He had joined the Army reserves as a young man with a rank of second lieutenant. He was married to Vera Norvell for 49 years till she passed away in 2005. Vera was a graduate of the NFA, class of 1947.. They had three children . Solomon, Elaine Kaplan "E" of Newburgh, N.Y. passed away early Thursday morning at St. Luke's Hospital. Elaine was 70 years old. She was born on March 8, 1931. The daughter of Harry and Rose Solomon, Elaine was a life long resident of Newburgh. Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, William Kaplan of Newburgh and their four daughters, Joan Kaplan of Newburgh, Sheila Kaplan of Delmar, Deborah and John Sergi of Newburgh and Amy Market of Newburgh. She is survived by her nine grandchildren, Jonathan and Eric Gatsik, Michael, Louise and Tiah Rubin, Alahna and Madison Sergi, Tracey O'Hara and Jarrett Markel. Elaine is also survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Harold and Zelda Kaplan of Beverly, MA and numerous aunts, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and Irving Solomon. After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy, Elaine went on to study at the Spencer Business School. She co-founded Regal Bag Corp. and the Elaine and William Family Charitable Foundations with her husband Bill. Elaine, a lifetime member of Congregation Agudas Israel and a member of Temple Beth Jacob, was a strong supporter of Hadassah and a former President of the Newburgh Jewish Community Center's Women's Division. Elaine was a dedicated St. Luke's Hospital volunteer and an active member of St. Luke's Women's Auxiliary. Elaine's role as "patient advocate" was appreciated by all whose live's she touched. Elaine was honored by the State of Israel Bond Organization for her lifetime contributions to the Newburgh Community. When not caring for her family, Elaine enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and tennis with her friends. Elaine, a loving wife, mother and grandmother will be missed by those who knew her good nature and caring ways. Szeli, Fred
Anthony Sr. also known to the family and friends as "Geza", his
Hungarian name, entered into rest on December 28, 2010, surrounded by
his loving family. He was 80. The son of Joseph and Elizabeth Szeli,
Fred was born on March 29, 1930 in Roseton, New York. He was the last of
seven children. Fred was captain of the Newburgh Free Academy baseball
team in his junior and senior years, and played on many local and
traveling baseball teams, as well as many fast and slow pitch softball
teams. Fred was selected and played one season in the minor leagues for
the Philadelphia Phillies after high school but was drafted into the
U.S. Army where he served in Germany during the Korean War. "Geza"
worked for seven years at the Jova Brick Yard in Roseton and then the
next 39 plus years for Central Hudson Gas & Electric, first at
Danskammar Point and then at the Roseton Generating Station. After
retiring, he worked part time as a seating attendant for the Newburgh
Nighthawks baseball team and then for the Town of Newburgh Police
Station. Fred was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in
Poughkeepsie and attended Our Lady of Mercy Church weekly in Roseton,
where he served as an usher and maintained the church grounds once a
week year round for the past seven years. He was a founding member of
the Roseton Rod & Gun Club, an active hunter, a member of the Mid
Hudson Horseshoe Pitchers Association, and had various other hobbies
such as pinochle, reading and gardening. Survivors include his loving
wife of 50 years, Dorothy at home; his son, Fred Szeli Jr. and his wife,
Linda of Blue Point, NY; son, Stephen Szeli of Newburgh and cherished
grandkids: Annaliese, his little bunny rabbit and Hunter, his little
home run hitter of Blue Point, NY; sister, Charlotte Columbo of
Poughkeepsie, and brother, Peter Szeli of Newburgh, along with many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Joseph Szeli and
Arthur Szeli and sisters, Irene Polgar and Ethel Kish. Visitation will
be held from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday (today), December 30th, 2010 at Engel

Youngberg, Clarence Jr. 73, of Panama City, passed away Saturday morning, April 3, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Newburgh, N.Y., where he lived before moving to Panama City in 1970. Mr. Youngberg was a 30-year retiree with the U.S. Civil Service at Tyndall Air Force Base and had also worked for the West Point Military Academy. He was also a member of the Bay County Sheriff's Auxiliary for 28 years. Mr. Youngberg was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Korea. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed ice sailing in his younger years. He had many friends both in Newburgh and Panama City and was a devoted family man who enjoyed people and had a great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Adeline Youngberg; his sons, Robert Youngberg and wife Debbie and Everett Youngberg and wife Caroline, all of Panama City, and Darrin Youngberg of Panama City Beach; his daughters, Gail Carney and husband Kevin of Newburgh and Evelyn Simpson and husband Howard of Panama City Beach; his brother, William Youngberg of Newburgh; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
